I was so sad to hear of Tom's passing. May he rest in peace. I hope that Helen, Geraldine, Nick, Peter, Antoinette and Beth are bearing up alright.

To me, Tom was a loving godfather, uncle, and friend. He was also my employer, and tutor when I was studying engineering. I learned so much from him, the technical and practical, as well as how to be a good person.

He'd a heart of gold, and was so patient. He never uttered an unkind word to me (or Maurice), no matter how annoying we were as 10-year-olds! He was by far our favourite uncle, and remained so throughout our lives.

On a visit home last December, I enjoyed a cup of tea with Tom, Helen and Geraldine in Loughlinstown. I’d dropped by with my mum Val (his sister and soulmate) and my daughter Aisling. Tom was full of chat and charm, and the conversation and banter flowed freely, as if I’d never been away. This was Tom’s nature, which I will always cherish.

Peter, so very sorry to hear about your Dad's untimely passing, my sincere condolences. I couldn't help but smile when I read "If Granddad can't fix it, no one can", sounds like you are a total cut off your Dad. Thoughts and prayers are with you and family, take care.

I was at school in Blackrock College with Tom. Our leaving cert year was 1958. A group of us from the year of 1958 have in recent years met monthly for coffee and chat and we also have an annual lunch. Tom was a member of the Rock 58 Group. We were always pleased to see him attend. He always had a smile on his face and was in good humour. We send our sympathy and condolences to Tom's wife, Helen, and to his children and grand-children. May Tom rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to Helen, Geraldine, Nicholas, Antoinette, Peter and all the extended Taaffe family on the death of their beloved Tom. Tom was, indeed, a very special person who treated all and sundry with kindness and respect. He was truly proud of his family and heritage always stretching the hand of friendship to cousins and relations far and wide thereby reconnecting family ties and gatherings. We have fond memories of our last family gathering in Drogheda 2024 with Tom and son Peter, Cousins Vicki Sue and Teresa Hopkins from Ohio. May God reward Tom for his kindness and goodness and grant him eternal rest and happiness in Heaven and may his dear family find comfort and consolation in their great loss.

I believe it was in 1952 (or thereabouts)that i first met Tom in 'Rock.
We always liked each other, and met in more recent years at coffee mornings.
He was a good man, and will be sorely missed.

I grew up in 71 St Helen’s Road and the Taaffe’s lived in 67… 2 doors away. What a lovely family. Tommy was in class with one of my older brothers, and despite the fact I was a good few years younger, Tommy always made sure I was o k. A really fantastic neighbour and someone I remember vividly. My condolences to all the family! Obviously Paul is gone, but Valerie, you too were a lovely neighbour. A great family. The grandchildren have every reason to be proud. May Tommy rest in peace!

It broke my heart to hear of Tom's passing. I, my sister, 3 nephews and a niece were fortunate enough to spend family time with him last year (2024) while visiting from the US in Ireland. Sharing pictures and hearing stories about the family was so much fun. We got to meet Peter and his beautiful daughter Asha. Not quite sure where we fit in the family tree but we are all cousins just the same. He will be missed and my heart goes out to Helen and his family.

It is with great sadness that I have learned of the death of a classmate with whom i shared a desk and many joyous moments for several years in 'Rock. Tom certainly was one of life’s true gentlemen, I worked with Tom and alongside Tom for 17 years, Tom wasn’t just an amazing engineer he was an amazing teacher, what I came to learn from Tom wasn’t just engineering it was how to be a good person he educated me on life and now 35 years later since we 1st met I carry everything he tough me trough life , Tom Taaffe will always have a place in my heart , I’m so sorry for your loss
