Deepest sympathies to Eileen and the Walsh family. We knew Tom from shortly after we moved to Carrick-on-Suir in the mid 70s. His welcoming smile was a constant. In later years his work with COSDA, his history courses on Carrick-on-Suir and his walking tours of the town speak to a presence that cannot be replaced and will be missed. May Tom Rest in Peace. Tom was the epitome of a gentleman. I’ve know him since I was only 7 or 8 years old, in the shop, in their home and in our family life. I have treasured memories of Tom when I was a child up to present day. There isn’t a person in the world who could have a bad word to say about him. Always jolly, maybe singing a song but always a story to tell. He gave great happiness to my now deceased grand uncle Tommy Kiely when he would visit Carrick and loved to meet Tom for a chat about the town. Nothing was ever a problem for Tom. I’m not sure he knew the word no! Sleep peacefully Tom. You’ll be greeted with open arms by countless gone before you. My sincerest sympathies to Eily, Tom, Barbara & Alison. May you find comfort in the great memories you keep in your hearts. xx

Condolences to the Welsh Family on the Death of your beloved father, he was very much loved in the town, I remember him myself from the L&N days, how long ago was that, but in more recent years I remember my father Joe Cooney William St saying what a wonderful historian he was & thoroughly enjoying a tour he gave of the town, May his insights of Carrick not be lost, he worked so hard on them.
