Deepest sympathy to Tommy's wife, Chrissie and family, I'm so sad to hear the news that Tommy has gone to his eternal rest.

To my dear, dear friend and colleague Tommy. You took me under you wings and showed me by example what a community activist should be. In the 1980s, the word “activist” wasn’t familiar; instead, it was “love your neighbour and your community’. Every day of your life Tommy, you demonstrated your love for your family and for the people of your dear Middle Parish. You brought me on board your wonderful committee of musketeers with your generous spirit of “All for one, and one for all”, showing that love was “a community of togetherness”. Over the years, seeing and meeting you in town or at an event or speaking with you on the telephone, your kind and gentle voice still had that magic and I always felt better and wiser after having spoken with you. God bless you Tommy for your time, for your guidance and for that wonderful simple wisdom which you shared and which I will cherish always. Rest in peace my good friend.

I had the pleasure and indeed the honour of working with Tommy in the old Brian Boru Street Sorting Office from 1979 for a great many years. Tommy was a decent man who cared deeply about his job and for his fellow workers. Everybody liked him and he had no difficulty in obliging anyone with a favour. I can say that I was the grateful recipient of sage advice from Tommy and I am all the better for it. Even up to eighteen months ago and in his 90s Tommy was pushing emptied refuse bins through neighbours gates on St. Mary's Avenue early in the morning. To his lovely wife Chrissie, daughter Rosarie, and sons John and Paul, please accept our deepest sympathy. -A gentleman has left the neighbourhood. Thank you Tommy...

I saw first hand how these qualities marked him out as an exceptional human being, allowing him to handle situations in the honest and direct way that was necessary.
