First met Tommy in St.Finians many many years ago...I was a first year,Tommy was senior to me...bullying of younger boys was endemic in the college at that time...but Tommy abhorred it..and treated us juniors with kindness,gentleness an empathy..in a world of cruelty and violence. Tommy ,you helped to make our young lifes bearable and i shall never forget that..thank you ,dearest friend...and now rest in peace....tom staunton..formerly batterstown.

I first met Tommy in St Finian's. Many a time I walked the streets of Navan with him as a teenager where the conversations were always stimulating and left me in the best of form. Having never heard about Tommy for 50 years, I did hear life was not the easiest for him in recent years. It made me sad. May he now rest in peace. Fond memories of my student days with Tommy in Meath County Council in the road section surveying the road from Barleyhill to Ballymoe outside Kingscourt in 1973 . Rest in peace Tommy.
