Rest in peace grumpy Grandad. I remember growing up we would always look forward to the day you would come and visit, usually a Wednesday, we would always ask what day is Grandad coming over. We would be more excited near Halloween time as you always brought fireworks over with you. Another fond memory I have was watching the 6 nations rugby games with you, or the big fry ups we would have with the superquinn sausages.
Rest in peace, sorry for your loss.
Tom, what can I say........ Plenty!
I had the privilege of caring for Tom at The Grove in the final years of his life.
Tom, you were a gem. I'm going to miss your humour, Your stubbornness, your smile, your wink, the proper smile with your eyes smiling oh and your foul mouth.
It is so strange to get to the top of the stairs and not see you. My fondest memories are when you used to eye roll at Marie when she was 'nagging' you but the twinkle in your eye told me you knew she was only looking after you.
It was also so lovely to see the bond between you and your brothers and how bright you became after seeing them!
I hope you are happy now you are free from the awful disease you suffered and I'm glad to have been able to help you live the rest of your days in comfort.
Make sure you keep an eye of your beautiful daughters who can be as stubborn as you.
To Tom's family, I am truly sorry for your loss.

We will always remember Tommy for being the most kindest and heartwarming man, he was the closest we had to a grandfather and we will cherish every moment we had with him growing up; and the countless hours of us watching the horse racing together. He’ll forever be in our hearts and are grateful we get to call him our Tommy.
Sending all our love to family and friends,
Caitlin and Dylan Heffernan.

Tom was one of a kind.
I was lucky to have cared for Tom at The Grove in Charlestown.
As I have ginger hair Tom always called me 'ginger' while I would say 'morning Tom' in the worse irsih accent going😂. He was such a special man that I will miss a lot.
He had good and bad days near the end but I will never forget when he was having a sleepy day and didn't have the energy to speak. I went in with my usual awful accent and said 'good morning Thomas' and he opened his eyes winked and gave me one of his cheeky smiles.
He will be sadly missed at The Grove. Sending lots of love to all the family xx

Well what can I say about dear Tom, with his cheeky smile, quiet humour and mischievous eyes.
Firstly I would like to express my sincere condolences to all of Toms family. I have had the privilege to have helped care for Tom during his time at The Grove, having known his daughter Marie for many years prior to this.
Tom was certainly a character, he made me smile alot, those cheeky comments that were said to shock with a twinkle in his eye and a wicked laugh. We shared many a giggle and I'm only sad I didn't know him before his time at The Grove. I am very glad I got to know a little bit about the man he was and hear some shared stories from Marie, Sharon, Jimmy and Kevin.
I will always remember those times when Kevin and Jimmy visited with their lovely wives, to see the smiles and the bond that you had. Three brothers with a shared history, Jimmy holding court, sharing photos and telling stories. The uncanny likeness between Kevin and Tom, both so quietly spoken but with the same twinkle and shy humour.
Toms family were a big part of The Grove, where Tom was quiet his daughters made up for, bringing energy and laughter into the home. I often caught Toms eye when he was being told off by Marie (it happened alot) and we shared a smile. He would look at Marie, look at me and half roll his eyes but with obvious warmth and humour. Big characters all of you, with big hearts and bigger smiles.
Tom you will be greatly missed.
Rest in peace now, you fought for long enough.xxx.

Deepest Condolences Sharon and Family
I'd like to give my Condolences to all of Tom's family.
I had the privilege of caring for Tom at the Grove for the past three years.
He was a lovely man ,sometimes very stubborn, quick witted with a very dry sense of humour which I loved.
In the mornings when I'd go in to help him I'd always say "Good morning Tom" & he would always reply "Good morning Cathryn" & just the fact that he'd remembered my name really made me smile inside.
I will always remember Toms big cheeky grin especially after he'd said something funny like he was waiting for a reaction from me & then came the laughter.

Very saddened to hear this news. Over the decades whenever I've been in Tommy's company I've always enjoyed his quick wit and his great story telling. He was great company and extremely courteous. He will be missed by many.

Tommy was always full of good old Irish humour. I spent many times chatting about his favourite pastimes and entrepreneurial endeavours.
He was always keen to listen to mine too!
