He was a gifted and kind young man and I have so many lovely memories from the early and mid 1970s.

The Carpenter Lives On

Stepping into his workshop to start the day,
Different pieces of wood laid in array,
The scent of cedar filling the air,
A piece of furniture he works to prepare,
Handcrafted with love and the finest precision,
A work came to life with what he could envision,
Measuring the wood for the perfect size,
Tape measure at hand from his supplies,
Reaching for a saw lying on a shelf,
He whistles a familiar tune to himself,
Cutting the wood with the utmost care,
A type of craftsmanship no other can compare,
Skilled at working with his hands,

Very sad to hear of Tom's passing. My sincere condolences to his family. I worked with Tom in Youthreach NGGS. He was always vey helpful and great fun to be with both in work and on social occasions. May he rest in peace.

I 1st came to know Tom thru work, since 1990 he has designed & custom built the technical furniture for Oireachtas Broadcasting, not flat packs but quality woodwork from a Master Craftsman, no job too big, last minute design changes never a problem...a man of great knowledge & charm, a pleasure to chat too & have a pint with. I will long cherish the memory of his recent birthday pint.
