I got to know Tommy in 1961 when he was a key mover to set up the Aer Lingus Gaelic Football team. He was a fine man a great leader and motivator.

Memories, memories! Tommy and I go back to ALT 1956. He sold me his Ariel 350 cc motorbike outside Howth railway station ( having bought it from a colleague Hugo McNeil, father of former Ireland rugby full back). We, together with five or six other GAA stalwarts, formed the nucleus of the accounts dept. soccer team. Given his loyalty to his native royal county, Tommy stood apart on the pitch in his green togs when all others wore the tradional white. Deirdre worked with him in the same office in Production. Tommy was a great sportsman and excelled in inter department sports activity in his younger days. He was very much a pioneer in the development of AerLingus M & E as a worldwide Maintenance and Overhaul Facility when the airline changed from a Turbo Prop powered fleet to an all Jet FLeet.

Himself and Mum were great friends and there would be great chats of old times when he would visit, Mum would have been very sad to hear he had passed away. Very sad to hear of Tommy’s passing. I had the pleasure of working with him in the early 70’s when Aer Lingus Production Department started selling our technical services to airlines worldwide. Tommy was a thorough gentleman and contributed significantly to the success of this venture.
