Therese - I am so sorry to hear of Tiernan’s passing. Mary used to update me on his progress but I hadn’t spoken to her in a while. He sounded like a very brave and kind boy. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the Gillespie family at this very difficult time.

So sad to hear about Tiernan's passing. It was a long hard journey for you both. I'll always remember him from the hurling in Cratloe where he played with Seamus and John Daly. Sean and I had the pleasure of coaching him - he always enjoyed the games and training, always tried hard and never complained. I know you are very proud of him and rightly so. Dearest Therese,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Tiernans passing. Such a nice, well mannered, gentle and brave young man. My life was made richer by meeting both of you. No words to take away your pain or grief. No mother should out live their child, that is not the natural order. My thoughts are with you and your family. This poem has given me some comfort. I hope it will give some to you.
