I had the good fortune to have been friends with Tim during our early
days in Bandon, our college years and most importantly throughout our careers in Arup. He was an outstanding engineer and a person of the highest integrity. His modest demeanour coupled with his great sense of humour set an example for all of us. His contribution to Arup was immense, not least his mentoring of young engineers.

It was with great sadness that I heard of the death of Tim. He and Anne were great family friends when we lived in Limerick. We had many good family gatherings together. Tim told many a great story of his engineer designs and projects. For one project Tim learned Russian to build aircraft hangers in Russia. A measure of his character and professionalism that he left no stones unturned. He will be missed by his family, friends an professional colleagues.
My deepest sympathies to Tim’s family. I had the privilege of working with Tim over the years at Arup, where it was clear that not only did he love the company, but he also cared deeply for the people within it. He was incredibly generous with his time and mentored many individuals across Arup in Ireland and the US. To Anne, Úna and Maeve, please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Tim. We knew Tim very well in Toronto, where he helped us settle into a new country and never failed to check-in on us during his visits. More recent catchups for a coffee or lunch always seemed to involve a detour past a construction site! Tim was gifted at his profession: diligent, enthusiastic and keen to share his knowledge to junior colleagues. It speaks volumes, however, that our abiding memory of Tim is his kind nature and decency – he was a true gentleman and will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.

Heartfelt prayers for Anne and family for the loss of beloved Tim.

A prayer for the progress of Tim’s soul:

O my God! O my God! Verily, thy servant, humble before the majesty of Thy divine supremacy, lowly at the door of Thy oneness, hath believed in Thee and in Thy verses, hath testified to Thy word, hath been enkindled with the fire of Thy love, hath been immersed in the depths of the ocean of Thy knowledge, hath been attracted by Thy breezes, hath relied upon Thee, hath turned his face to Thee, hath offered his supplications to Thee, and hath been assured of Thy pardon and forgiveness. He hath abandoned this mortal life and hath flown to the kingdom of immortality, yearning for the favor of meeting Thee.

O Lord, glorify his station, shelter him under the pavilion of Thy supreme mercy, cause him to enter Thy glorious paradise, and perpetuate his existence in Thine exalted rose garden, that he may plunge into the sea of light in the world of mysteries.

Verily, Thou art the Generous, the Powerful, the Forgiver and the Bestower.

My deepest sympathy to Anne, Una, Maeve and the extended Corcoran family on the sad passing of Tim. I have known Tim for many years though his role in Arup and in the relatively small Engineering Consulting community in Ireland, where he was very highly regarded. I got to work with him briefly on a committee of the Irish Academy of Engineering. It was there that I saw at first hand his ability, his knowledge and his commitment. But I also got to know his warm and generous personality. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him in the engineering and construction community, May he rest in peace.
