Deepest sympathy to Chris, Kevin, Wally and everyone who loved Tim. He was a wonderful character, full of wit, wisdom and perfectly-timed acerbic asides. There are whole generations who will never know the debt of gratitude they owe him for finding Zig & Zag to light up their childhoods, and for allowing Dustin to say the unsayable. I feel very grateful and privileged to have known and been mentored by Tim, and to have been among the few (or many!) to receive the annual "grand stretch in the evening" calls. Codladh sámh, Tim. See you on the other side.
So sad to hear of Tim's passing, and condolences to his family. He was such an enjoyable character to work with; a shift in the weather office when Tim was on duty at the Pres Desk was never boring. He was encyclopediac in his knowledge of so many topics, but he had a great lightness about his character and his conversations. A great gentleman.
Sincere sympathy to Kevin, Chris and extended family on Tim's passing. Tim was a very capable Presentation and News Director - unflappable in emergencies - and there were plenty of these in analogue equipment days! I don't think I ever heard him say a harsh word about anyone and his joie de vivre and wit enlivened many a late night shift in RTE.

Condolences to Tim's family on his passing. He was a rogue and a gentleman - always with a glint in his eye! Rest in peace Tim. 🌹
My condolences to Tim’s family. I loved working with Tim, he made every shift enjoyable in Continuity. One time for an Irish match he told me to go to the costume department and get a green jersey and scarf and for me to walk off screen as if I was going to the match!! He was so funny and even when he retired, it was a pleasure meeting him in Dunnes!! I still have the fabulous Robert’s Radio he gave me for a housewarming present. He was such a gentleman and will be truly missed. RIP Tim. ❤️
Chris, Kevin and family, please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of your lovely Dad. Tim was such a gentleman, always ready for a chat and a story to be told when we met on Granville Road. Thinking of you all at this very sad time.
I was so saddened to hear of Tim's passing. He was a true gentleman. Sincere, warm and always giving. I will miss 'The shortest day of the year' phone calls we shared and will remember him fondly on this and many other days to come.
Sincerest condolences to all Tim's family on his passing.
A true pioneer and such a wonderful character and colleague, he was Mischief at play. (I will never forget battling "Its a long way to Tipperary" as a backing track to my late night voiceover) and I always looked forward to his annual call on the day after Winter Solstice to remark that "there was a grand stretch in the evenings"
So much is lost with his passing but he has left so many great stories and memories behind.
Rest in Peace Tim. Suaimhneas Síoraí ort.

So sorry to hear of Tim’s passing and condolences to all his family.
Tim was a one-off, an engineer, aviator, Senior Pres Director and raconteur with a razor-sharp mind and tongue! You will be missed old friend.

Sincere condolences to all of Tim's family. He was a wonderful character who never changed over the 62 years I've known him in RTÉ. And, as others have said, we enjoyed his fascination with our (Irish) use of the English language.
Tim was an aviation enthusiast and broadcasting, TV and film professional.

I’m so sad to hear of Tim’s passing. He was a great character, friend and colleague. No one could use the word “inadvertently” with such sincerity as Tim could. A man in a million. RIP Tim.
Rest in Peace Tim. Always loved working with you. Always a giggle or two. I remember when I was green about the gills in TV production you sent me to look for a Q dot!!!...so I trotted off to search for one.😆
I offer you all my sincere sympathy on the death of Tim, your much loved husband, father and grandfather. The memory of his pleasant, companionable, supportive presence in the workplace and outside will live on.
