Tim was a unique and gentle person in a very fast world. The minute you walked through the door of the Harbour Bar you were transported to a bygone era. Peaceful and quiet yet so worldly and informative. He was just such an asset to Kinsale and the last of his kind in the town. Rest in peace Tim and I hope you enjoy your slumber x
Thanks Tim for all those lovely moments, chats and drinks we had with all the Scilly neighbors for many years. Your place was unique and I always felt a little bit home when I came to your place thanks to all your delicious Belgian beers you had in the fridge. Condolences to the family. RIP Tim. We will miss you.
R.I.P.Tim,a very unique character, which shone through in his lovly quirky bar, always enjoyed my visits there.x
Such a gentleman. I’m going to miss the little chats with you on the Scilly Walk. I just wish I’d made it to the Harbour Bar a few more times.
I was sorry to hear of the sudden death of Tim, I will really miss our chats. So many memories of sunny days in the garden and cosy winter evenings with friends in the ‘living room’ in front of the fire. He was a true gentleman. Condolences to his family and many friends. Scilly won’t be the same without him. Rest in Peace Tim.
Sincere sympathy to Tim's relatives and friends.
What a unique and iconic place the Harbour Bar was. I've loved it since we first discovered it over ten years ago. What a 'gem of a find' as it was often referred to in travel reviews of Kinsale. We often remarked, how, if you came accross it yourself, as a tourist abroad, you'd be enthralled by it. It truely was unique and special. It was especially lovely on a winter's night with the fire lighting and the jingle of the bells on the boats in the harbour. And Tim made hot-whiskies to perfection! It was magical too at christmastime with all the beautiful festive decorations.
And no matter the medley of customers, they all engaged in conversation with each other sitting at the unique semi-circular bar. It was the nearest thing to group therapy!
And no matter the subject being discussed, Tim always seemed to produce a newspaper article on the topic of conversation, such was his knowledge of all things - such a learned and well-read man. He was like a walking encyclopaedia.
Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann (we won't see his likes again). Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis. Rest in peace Tim.

I'm so sorry to hear of Tim's passing. I used to be in the Harbour bar a lot in the early 90's, as my american boyfriend (later to be my husband) and his parents lived in Scilly and it was their favourite place. I moved to the US and lived there for 17 years, before returning to Kinsale a widow. Tim remembered me, my late husband and his parents, after all that time. We would often run into each other in Supervalu or an the Scilly walk while he walked Poppy, and have a chat. A couple of times, we'd sit on his bench in his for the chat. He was a kind gentle person. 🥀
Deepest sympathy to extended Platt families. Tim will be so missed . RIP Tim back in arms of Jeb & Stanley .
Happy thoughts Tim of you and Poppy. R.I.P.
Sincere condolences to Tim's family and friends. I count myself so lucky to have spent a few nights in Tim's company in the Harbour Bar. It was such a unique place, and on one occasion it was just him, myself and his little jack russell. He was, as many have said, most observant and chose his words well. I felt privileged just to be there.
Truly the end of an era. Rest in peace Tim.

We are very sorry to hear of Tim's passing. He was an absolute gentleman and always a pleasure to go into. It always felt like visiting his home rather than a pub on a sunday evening. He was a great listener and always so well informed current affairs, sports and a little bit of local news too! He had a lovely quiet sense of humour and his patrons were all so fond of him. He and his gorgeous Harbour Bar were two of Kinsale's gems and we were priviledged to have known him. May he rest in peace.
Very saddened to learn of Tim’s sudden passing. Lovely memories of time spent with him in the Harbour Bar in our 30+ Kinsale years and not forgetting his parents Jeb and Stanley. May they all rest in peace. Our four ‘kids’ Bryan., Aoibhe, Faéla and Fergal join us in sending our condolences to Tim’s family.

When I arrived in Kinsale in 1979, Tim's Harbour Bar was always a go to spot. He was such a gentleman and seemed to know everything that was going on in Kinsale. A wonderful man. Sincere condolences to his family and his many friends. R.I.P. Tim , I will miss you.
Dear friends and family of Tim,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Tim's passing. He ran a wonderful pub that was like walking into his sitting room, where all were welcome and so many beautiful evenings of music were had. I loved bringing visitors for a unique experience, where the fire was warmly kept and the welcome was genuine. Tim made me feel like a friend, and I will miss him dearly. Whether out for a walk around Scilly, down the shops or behind the bar, he was a kind and gentle man. Well-read, well-spoken, and well-meaning he was a tonic, and his bar was truly iconic. I will miss our chats.
May he rest in peace, and may those who love and miss him be comforted by many years of good memories of this good man.
