TIMOTHY (VAL) MANNING

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Val. He was a lovely man and a joy to call into for a chat and a visit to his unique shop. All my visits shortened the journeys, especially the winter ones. My sincere sympathy to his family and I will remember him always when passing that way. Rest easy Val.

I'm so sorry to hear of Val's passing. Val was a friend of my mother Muireann, and I had a lovely few weeks working in Manning's Emporium many years ago when Val was short of staff. It was a lovely and fun time. Muireann was very saddened to hear he was ill. She is ill herself now so unable to write, but I know how fond she was of Val and the magic place he created there to bring people together. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to learn of the passing of Val. A true gentleman - so ahead of the game in food. I suspect he never forgot a name or a face, and truly always had time for people. It was like going into Aladdins cave as a commis chef in the early 90's being sent down to Val to get Irish cheese's , such fond memories. I have ever since always loved visiting over the years and seeing the always progressive changes. Rest in peace Val .

I was really sad to hear of the passing of Val and want to send my sincere condolences to his family. Val was an institution - a must visit one - around Ballylickey and beyond. I have fond memories of our chats about his new French wine discoveries, his amazing cheeses and a whole range of other subject matters.
Val was a pioneer in local artisanal cheeses and a great entrepreneur. He demonstrated that you didn’t have to come from a town or city to be an innovator. He was and will continue to be an inspiration for other young people with similar ambitions.
Farewell Val. I’ll miss our conversations as none of my trips home was complete without spending time chatting about all manner of things with you. May you rest in peace.

Sincerest condolences on the passing of Val. He and my dad had great times together both in West Cork and Tavira. A great man to talk Munster and Ireland rugby, Cork hurling and Irish and International politics, he was great company. RIP Val.

I am so sorry to hear of Vals passing , he was so much part of our lives for so long, my parents and grandparents shopped there and Val brought so much into Ballylickey with the shop and the ideas that he had for what that could do, he was an innovator and left a great legacy that lives on in the Mannings of today. We are very sorry to hear the sad news of Val's death.
The annual journey from Dublin to Ballylickey on holiday was always full of excitement and happiness in anticipation of arriving to a place which holds such fabulous memories for us as a family.
The Cassidys and our friends shared so many 'breakfasts' ... 'afternoon -teas' ! ... evenings and nights ...in the fabulous company of Val in Mannings Emporium.
We remember , so fondly and with lots of laughter , the day we asked Val in the mid-summer sunshine if he would mind that we could hold a Christmas Night in the open air of 'The Emporium' !! Of course he thought we were absolutely 'mad' ... !!! but Val being Val said " NO PROBLEM " !!
We duly arrived on an August evening with Christmas tree, Christmas music , lights and presents .... only to have one of so many memorable evenings in Val's fabulous company.
We sang, danced and shared so many stories. !!
Val was such a kind person and we treasure the times when invited to share a meal with him in the lovely company of family and friends . One very memorable moment was the day the 'Heineken Cup' was travelling Val's way .. and he wanted us to be part of that 'moment'.
Val .... may you rest in peace and whenever your name comes into conversation , we will always remember the laughter we shared in each other's company.
