Steve, thinking of you at this very sad time.

So sorry to hear of Toby's passing. Such a nice person and a pleasure to have known her and worked with her. May she rest in peace.

I feel so lucky to have mat Toby and worked with her in Clare Psychology over many many years. Her generosity with her ideas and openness to working across boundaries contributed significantly to what makes Clare a flagship in services working together. Always having the children at the core of her work she brought new ideas and would persist through all the roadblocks to get them up and running. I have had many a call starting with ‘I have an idea… will you help me work out how to get through the system’ and we would plot and plan. Toby gave so much to others it is so so sad that she died too soon to relax (as much as she ever would have done) and enjoy her second retirement. She is strongly in my thoughts xxx and her legacy will be kept alive by us all xxx

I occasionally met Toby on visits to the farm in Ballingaddy and later when we worked together in the HSE Mid West. She was a soft spoken and most authentic person. She will be dearly missed.

I'm very sorry to hear about Toby's death. It was a pleasure to work with her on a PSI working group. I won’t forget her personality and work ethic. And above all, wanting to do right by children, young people and families.

I was so saddened to learn of Toby's passing. She was a lovely person who will be greatly missed. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

I was blessed to have worked with Toby this year on CPS. I will never forget her reaction when I shared a story about the impact on my son when his school learned to listen to his body and non-speaking communication. Toby lit up in that moment. It felt like the very outcome she was working so tirelessly towards was right there in that story.

Thank you, Toby, for making such a meaningful mark on the lives of so many children and adults, who will now be met with the respect and dignity they always deserved. Your work will live on in countless ways.

I'm glad I was finally able to meet you back in 2018, after having heard so much about you from my Mom. It always seemed like she was grateful for your friendship, and I think there was some admiration there too. I was so shocked and sorry to hear of your passing. It's horrible to think you both had to leave us so early. Say hi to her out there, if you can.

I will always remember Toby's infectious laughter, kind and loving heart. Although she was an ocean away, we spoke often sharing our love of working with children and teaching. Words cannot express our shock and sadness following Toby’s untimely death. Heartfelt condolences to Steve and family. I met Toby in 2018 on a HSE National Working Group. We continued to find ways to work together since that time through the HSE, PSI and CPS. Toby and I worked together until October 21st when, despite her ill health, Toby roped me into a shared presentation at the CPS International Conference. Toby was a friend, colleague, mentor, partner in crime and constant inspiration. We had such plans for future collaboration. Toby was so excited for the possibilities ahead in 2026. Toby’s legacy will live on. She was a leading light in the psychology world and beyond. A wonderful friend and confidante. Rest well Toby. Take care Steve and family. Ruth

It is with great sadness we hear of the death of our dear colleague and friend Toby. Toby was a valued member of the Disability Advisory Group since the National Clinical Programme for People with Disability began in 2020 and we had the pleasure of working with Toby on a number of important projects to support a rights based approach to health and social care services for people with disability. In particular, Toby's leadership in collaborative proactive solutions (CPS) education, training and research, which has made a huge impact. We will continue with Toby's mission to imbed CPS into practice. Toby will be deeply missed.

It is with a heavy heart that I write a condolence for a great colleague over many years. Our paths crossed initially when she showed up for an interview for a job over 25 years ago. While she did not take the Job offered, she made a great impression, and I was fortunate to be able to keep in contact with her when she was working with the HSE south. We worked closely in more recent years when she returned to Clare and took up employment in the Child Disability Services an area of service she was passionate about and had such a high degree of knowledge about. She showed such commitment to her work within her team, across the HSE Mid-West and in more recent years her national role. She had the ability to identify a problem and integrate her knowledge to develop a range of solutions and deliver the most appropriate solution in partnership with parents, families and her work colleagues. Steve you are in our thoughts at this most difficult time and as many have said Toby's has left an everlasting impression on all those that worked along-side her and one that won't easily be forgotten. Toby made living and learning her life's work and it now rest with those that knew her to continue this work.

Toby was my Psych 101 teacher at the University of Buffalo and later became my colleague and friend. I still have a vivid recollection of one of her lectures after subsequent decades of learning and teaching, and that says something about her. Our paths often crossed in psychology and music, and, in a truly gobsmacking serendipity, through Steve's residency at the Moravian tile works in Doylestown, where she met my extended family. As I reflect on them now, qll of my memories of her have a central theme, her eternal youthfulness and enthusiasm and conviction. Even though she's been far away for many years, it's very difficult not to imagine her spirit being here. But if ever I would bet on a spirit shining on, it would be hers. Soulmates require souls, and as impossible as this separation must be, she will surely be waiting for Steve. My deepest condolences.
