I was very saddened to hear of the death of Tom. It was great having Tom around when Pat was manager of our Vincent's underage team and the intermediates. No matter the result or your own individual performance, Tom was always there with words of encouragement and support. I will always remember his warm smile, his kind personality, his passion for hurling and his love for his family, particularly his grandchildren. My condolences to Pat, Conor, Niall, Tom’s grandchildren and the Boland family. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam dílis.

The staff and Board of Management of Scoil Fhursa wish to convey our deepest sympathies to Tom’s family on his sad passing. As a former Principal of our school, he spent over thirty years teaching the pupils of Kilmore West. He was a supportive principal, conscientious teacher, music lover and mega G.A.A. enthusiast.
We have very fond memories of working with him and sharing his love of learning, sport, music and encouraging the children to do their best and be their best. The sound of a banjo will always remind us of school anthems such as, 'I’ll tell me Ma' and 'The Holly Bears a Berry.'
