Tom Dowling welcomed me into his classroom in Mount Sion when I was a student teacher and ever since he was my mentor and my friend.
As a teacher he was way ahead of his time. His main concern after his own family was the welfare of his pupils and his colleagues.
I learned so much from him.

Sincere condolences to the Dowling family on the passing of Mr. Dowling. He was one of my first teachers in St.Pauls back in early 70’s. We used to call him Mocky. I’m not sure why or if he ever knew that . I recall the day he was made principal of St. Paul’s. Probably 1972ish . We were in the ‘line’ lining up to go into class in pairs and a classmate said ‘ congratulations sir’ . He answered in that distinctive voice ‘ Thank you very much’ . This stuck with me for some reason. He treated everyone with respect. A great teacher who set a lot of us on our way in life. Thanks and rest in peace now Mocky

Condolences to the family of Mr.Dowling. Memories of Tom as principal of St.Pauls primary school in the late sixties/early seventies. I still have my class photo of 1st communion day taken outside the Manor of St John, the pre cursor school to St.Pauls and Mr.Dowling leading the charge. May you rest in peace sir.
