I watched the service today and I shed tears. Some for the Uncle Tom I knew, and many for the Uncle Tom I never got to know well enough. I am grateful for being able to hear everyone speak about him, and only wish I could have been there. I hope that a grandchild of mine decides to call me “Happy”. That would be grand.

Love to you all from Texas.

Mark, Daneye, Liam and Isabel
Tom Dunne was my supervisor, and a good one. He always treated me with care and courtesy, and was meticulous in his comments. His range of interests was stimulating, and he knew how to ask questions. I didn't hear of his death until this evening, or I would have made a point of going to the funeral. Condolences to all his family. Memory eternal!

My friendship with Tom goes back to the early 1970s, though we met only intermittently down through the years.
Tom had a fine mind and independent judgement. And he managed to combine a stubborn intellectual curiosity with an innate courtesy and warm good humour.

Such a brusque and deep loss! Amidst the shock and our grieving condolence for Clare, Oisín and Fergus in their bereavement, comes a welter of memories: Tom’s sharp intellect, his impish wit, his learning (so wide, so lightly worn), his humaneness, his friendship. What a man to leave such memories; they will outlast the shock and the loss.
