I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Tom coaching us in gaelic football at Blarney GAA. He was good man and dedicated a lot of time to our team. His passing will be felt by both the Blarney and Whitechurch community. I give my condolences to the entire family.
It is with profound sadness that we read of Tom's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family! May he rest in peace!
I have very fond memories of being a pupil in Whitechurch National School with Tom as principal. He was a gentleman: he knew most students by name and had such an excellent attitude to his work that the school became a very positive place under his leadership. He always struck me as a real 'character.' Once, while acting as a substitute for the teacher of our class, he taught us something entirely random: the different ranks of officer in the military (general, corporal, private)-something which I've never forgotten. He also took it upon himself to cure a girl's hiccups another day, by suddenly frightening the living daylights out of her, hoping the shock would eliminate her hiccups! I met him once or twice after leaving the school, and he was always courteous and professional. I barely knew him, really, and yet I miss him; I have no doubt he was a kind man, and his passing will be sorely felt by all in Whitechurch and Blarney. My condolences to his friends, colleagues and family.
I knew Tom when he was Principal of Clontead National School and remember how proud and happy he was the day he led the entire school through the village to the magnificent new Coachford NS, of which he was first and distinguished Principal.
The usual words are inadequate to describe Tom but to describe him as a gentleman, as a fine colleague and as a friend, inadequate as they are, are the best I can manage. He was one of those who made the world a better place.
To his loving wife and family, sympathy at this sad hour.
Rest now. Tom, from your labours.
I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Tom Hallahan. I was lucky enough to attend Whitechurch N.S. during his first years as principal there. Later, during my own teaching degree, he welcomed me back for teaching practice. He also gave me my first job as a substitute teacher. Tom was a kind person and cared very much for the children in his care. I will think of him fondly when I remember my schooldays. Rest in peace Mr Hallahan.
