Sailing with Tom on the Jeanie Johnston was an honour. His deep knowledge, boundless passion for the sea, and warm mentorship left an indelible mark on all of us. Tom was not just a bosun; he was the heart of the ship, guiding us through every wave with his stories, wisdom, and laughter. His legacy will continue to inspire and live on in the sails of the Jeanie Johnston and in the hearts of every sailor fortunate enough to have known him. Fair winds and following seas, Tom. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten. With heartfelt remembrance.
Sincere condolences to all the Harding family on the sad passing of Tom. We had the pleasure of meeting him in The Spaniard. We were short a person for a table quiz that night. He joined us and not only was he great company, he provided us with some answers, with all his knowledge.
Our sincerest sympathy to George and all the Harding family on Tom's passing.
Sincere condolences to all the Harding family.
To Peter and family - heartfelt condolences to you all.
I met Tom over 20 years ago on my first overseas trip - we thought he was a most unique individual and had an absolute blast, he kindly offered his apartment in London to a friend and I even though we had only just met. We had many a wild night and he visited us in Australia on many occasions. He was a great raconteur, hilarious, generous, kind and extremely clever. Back in the days when people wrote letters I would love to receive mail from him of his latest escapades and a poem. He will be so missed, it was an immense pleasure to have known him.
A sorceror of jewellery and the seas. An unforgettable sharp brained individual set to keep one entertained with anecdotes into the small hours with more than a dram. 'Look Tom, is that the north star?'
Sincere condolences to all the Harding family on the sad passing of Tom.He will never be forgotten, a true gent.It was a great pleasure to have known Tom.Fair winds & following seas to you Tom.R.I.P.

To Mary Lou, Kay, Judy, Daw, Peter and Karl, so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Thinking of you all at this sad time.
I had the joy and honour of sailing with Tom on a number of occasions. We also met up from time to time in Cork when I was living there. Every conversation with him was filled with wonder, curiosity and mischief. He had an incredible mind filled with knowledge and he was immersed in the skills, history and traditions of the sea. We have lost not only an incredibly capable sailor but also a patient and passionate teacher and guide who was never afraid to keep learning. But most of all we have lost the best and nicest of men. He will be missed and not forgotten by a great number of people. Condolences to his family and friends.

Unfortunately, I only got to sail with you on all too few occasions on the Jeanie Johnston, but it was always an immense pleasure and privilege. You're obvious love for Tall Ships and knowledge of all things Maritime were infectious. Rest in Peace, Tom, you've earned it.
Great man. One of a kind. Home safely now!!

One of the rare few who is gifted with the art of sail and storytelling. A true adventurer, a gent, a teacher, a mentor, a sailor and family to all who sailed with him over the years.
I believe all those whom Tom shared his time with will keep Tom's memory alive when sharing their own stories of him with shipmates, new and old.

It was a pleasure and an honour to have sailed with you on Asgard II.

Rest In Peace Tom. We had many adventures together on the Asgard II, and one or two ashore!! You were an excellent Sea Man, in the true sense of the words. Where Tall Ship trainees and crew gather, tales of your exploits will invariably be told, bringing much joy and laughter. Thank you for the memories. Your story will live on in the hearts of those who knew you. Sincere condolences to the Harding and McCarthy families.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Tom Harding, Bosun on my trips on Asgard 11. He was a great mentor and friend to us trainees in 2004 and as trainee watchleaders in 2005. His experiences and stories were legend. And he thought us so much, he always had time to lend a helping hand. Fair seas my friend. Ar dheis De to raibh a hAnam dilis.

Sincere condolences to the Harding family on the passing of Tom... may he rest in peace.
I sailed with Tom aboard Asgard II way back in 2006 or 2007, to this day I can still remember much of the time spent with Tom as he helped and guided us during the trip, a testement to the impression he left upon me and the love of the sea I still have to this day.
Rest in peace!
Condolences to Tom's family those he chose to spend time ashore and to the wider sea going family that feel like they also lost a family member.

The legend of Tom will live on in many a sea story, some will have a bit more salt added than true event's but for all those who had the pleasure of spending time on the deck under sail will smile and nod and understand that it could be true.

May we all see Tom someday again on Fiddlers green.

Sleep well you earned this rest, your watch is over.

May he rest in peace
Tom, you were one of a dying breed, it was always a pleasure to listen to you tell your stories about life, you will be greatly missed. RIP
Please accept our condoleneces for our loss. I met Tom nearly 20 years ago as he greeted me when I boarded Jeannie. When we assembled he warned us to leave the ship immediately, for if we stayed aboard as she left the dock, we would be cursed with the desire to return to the sea for the rest of our lives. He was correct. On our voyage to bring the ship back to Fenit, he would go aloft inspect the masts, yardarms, and rigging to assure when the storm hit us, we were safe. We pray that he is aloft now, safe and with his family and mates. Kindest Regards, rob
I can safely say I have never met anyone like Tom and doubt I will again. Nothing like that laugh and the mad glint in his eye on a night out but most importantly his giant soft heart. It is years since I have seen him but strange how some people leave a gap that cannot be filled and I hope someone wrote his stories down! I hope he is sailing his way to somewhere wild. Condolences to his family and Captain Tom.
