Sincere sympathy to the extended Lehane Family on the death of Tom and Aidan. I only just discovered the news of Tom's death when I heard about his brother Aidan today.
My deepest sympathies to Liz and Tom's whole family - I knew Tom over 20 years. Very lively meetings when we were preparing for transfer to DEASP. My experience of working with Tom was that he was supportive, plenty of empathy, straight talking, generous and clearly very much a family man. He will be fondly remembered by his colleagues in DEASP.
My deepest sympathy to all of Tom's family. Tom was a wonderful person and a great civil servant. He always had great empathy for the people we served in the Department and I loved the story he told on video about advice he got from his boss in his early days to see each claim as a person, which Tom always did. I valued his advice greatly over the years.
Deepest sympathy to the Lehane family. I worked with Tom in Clondalkin and he was a great colleague. He always had great empathy for all the clients he dealt with.
Deepest sympathy to the Lehane family. I have great memories of playing football with Tom in our Castle Celtic days.
Tom brought positivity and practicality to every challenge .... always a big warm smile ... always time for people. His departure brings back fond memories from The Castle , Rosmuc , an Club Gaelach .... and more . Sincere condolences to Liz and the Lehane family.
Deepest sympathies to the Lehane family on the loss of Tom, the warmest person one could hope to meet. We had the pleasure of working together on joint FÁS/DSCFA projects for many years before I joined the Dept and his enthusiasm for people and life never waned. RIP.
My sincere sympathy to all the Lehane family on the loss of your beloved Tom. Tom was a wonderful colleague who, right from the early days in Townsend St., really cared about those relying on social welfare. A true gentleman with such a happy outlook on life. It was always a pleasure to meet him. He will be greatly missed.
Colm I wish to offer my condolences to you and your family at this very sad time.
Tom was one of the first people I met when I joined the DEASP and his cheery personality and outlook on life made me glad to have him as a colleague. Many of the contributors to this site have commented on Tom's warm smile and his engaging and optimistic personality even at the most difficult of times. A true gentleman who will be missed by all of us.
My sincere sympathy to all the lehane family on the death of your beloved Tom. I worked with him fadó, fadó in Townsend st. & will never forget his quick wit & fun loving nature. He left a lasting impression on so many.
We met Tom and Liz for the first time several years ago, when they came to St. John's, Newfoundland to visit Liz's sister Doreen and her daughter Ciara. They all came to our house for dinner. We instantly felt like we had known them all of our lives. Liz is a sweet, sweet woman, obviously cut from the same cloth as Doreen. Tom was a magnanimous, interesting and well informed man, and was an engaging conversationalist. Their love and caring for each other was apparent to us. We are aware of how good Tom was to Liz's mother, and how she relied on him for counsel and advice; his frequent talks and walks with her, speaks to his kind heart and good nature.
We are sure that neither Liz nor her children need us to tell them that they were fortunate to have a man of Tom's calibre for their husband and father. A good and decent man has died much too young. We are confident his memory and influence will not soon fade from those who loved him. We offer Liz and her children, and Tom's extended family and friends on both sides, our heartfelt condolences, and celebrate with them a life well lived.
Well done Tom, well done.

My condolences to Tom’s family on their sad loss. Tom and I were work colleagues once...many years ago, but I still remember well his warm smile, friendly nature and hard-working style. Larger than life, a personality for the ages, his departure leaves the world a poorer place.
Rest in peace.
Rest in peace.
Our deepest sympathies, thinking of you all
If there was a book on How to live a Life, it would be based on Tom.
I can not begin to express how inspiring he was to everyone around him including myself, just as I cannot fully express my condolences to those closest to him. Words will never do justice.
Forever a beacon of positivity and optimism, his energy seemed to come from an ethereal place of boundless potential.
He may have left his body behind to journey into the unknown, but his positive energy, his outlook on life, remains in all of us and especially those of his most dearly beloved.
Sending love to Ash, Liz, Colm and Shauna who have used Tom's incredible strength to get through this difficult time and carry on his memory.
When God created humans, he thought of Tom

So sad to hear of the passing of Tom. I knew him through Castle Celtic and the Irish Club in the Castle. I always looked up to him. He was a sound decent selfless fun man abounding with positivity and energy. It was also so reassuring to know when Tom was playing football with you that there was someone even less likely to score than yourself on the pitch! Condolences to Liz and family.

To Eamonn,Aideen and all the Lehane family ,sincere condolences on the death of Tom,may he rest in peace.
Deepest sympathy to Liz, Colm, Aisling and Shauna on the sad loss of a husband and father. Tom was a mainstay of our club from the time he joined to the time the club disbanded. He was a force of nature on and off the pitch and his enthusiasm and commitment were legendary. He will be sadly missed by Liz and his family and indeed by all who knew him. His many friends from Castle Celtic would like to express their deepest sympathies at this time and the stories of his many exploits on the football pitches of Dublin will grow in stature as time goes on. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Deepest sympathies to Liz, Colm, Aisling and Shauna. Went all the way through school with Tom and we played football together for many the year. Tom helped me buy my first few cars - he was always a fountain of knowledge. Being in Tom's company was always being in the middle of laughter and joy, reminiscing on past times, school, football, family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all most especially his family who he was so proud of. May he rest in the peace.

Deepest sympathy to Liz and family, the Lehane family and extended families on the passing of Tom. I had the pleasure of working with Tom and it was a pleasure. He was the most lovely lovely man, kind, witty and so genuine and conscientious. He had a great empathy for people and worked tiredlessly and without any bias to improve clients' situations and lives. He thought of the little things too. While getting ready for the jobs fair in Dublin Castle and everyone sweating buckets he went out and bought ice creams for the fifty people working on it. That was special! He often spoke so fondly of Liz and his children that it was evident family were his priority and his first love. He fought his battle with such dignity and resilience that he is to be admired as much as he is loved by many. Rest in peace Tom. You were a great colleague and friend.
Colm, I'm so sorry to hear of the sad loss of your dad. My thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.
To Colm and family, very sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Our thoughts are with you during this sad time. I can see from all the condolences how popular and respected Tom was amongst family, friends and colleagues. Wishing you strength to face the days ahead and hope that all your memories of Tom will eventually bring you comfort in times ahead.
Absolute gent. Heartfelt condolences to Liz and family. His memory and his legacy will never be forgotten. A colossus of a human being. Legend x
Deepest sympathy to Liz and family on Tom's passing - a husband, father and the optimist who lifted peoples hearts wherever he went. I met him in the 1970s when three of us
walked to secondary school everyday. Spent long days in the back seats of classes in Drimnagh Castle and a memorable cycling trip for seven to France, Luxembourg and a German border town
to visit another school friend. I still remember him heading up to make a phone call to Liz as the boat pulled out of the harbour. Don't think the building society allowed personal calls at the time.
Met him through work over the years and he never changed in appearance or approach - always full of enthusiasm and energy for whatever needed to be done especially for his family. Letterkenny is a long drive from Templeogue to sort accommodation.
Liz you were brave and strong in your farewell to him.

My sincere sympathy to Liz and family on the loss of your dear husband and father. I worked with Tom for a good few years in Social Welfare and was his manager for a period. He was a very easy colleague to work with, he always had great enthusiasm for the task and a co-operative and positive approach. He was absolutely honest and reliable and it was always obvious that Liz and his family were his bedrock of support. His funeral service this morning from Church of St Jude the Apostle was very moving. Tom and I shared a love of the Irish language and it was particularly appropriate to hear the great songs Ag Críost an Síol and An Giolla Mear sung so beautifully at his funeral service. A decent man, loyal to his family and friends, to his employer and to his beloved St Pat's. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal agus go dtuga Dia sólás do Liz agus do Aisling, Colm agus Shauna.

Sincerest Condolences to you Liz, Aisling, Colm and Shauna, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. The phrase “one of nature’s gentlemen” is overused but in Tom’s case it is absolutely appropriate. Nobody who knew him will ever forget him, his enthusiasm for everything in life was infectious and his love for his family shone through at all times. His good humour lifted everyone who came in contact with him. After a long battle bravely fought he will go with God’s love which he so richly deserves. A little bit of all of us who knew him will go with him.
