We were honoured and blessed to have known Tom. He was one of nature's gentlemen with many qualities: wisdom, honesty, good manners and integrity. Old soldiers never die, they simply fade away. May he rest in peace.

We wish to express our deepest sympathies to the Macken family on the passing of our beloved cousin Tom Mackin. As my mother’s (Mary Margaret’s first cousin, he was loved and admired by my whole family here on the West Coast of the the U.S. My husband David,, daughter Erin, mother-in-law Vicki, and I, visited Tom, Rita, Nora and many other family members several times beginning in 1988 and on many return visits to Ireland. We loved his stories, his humor, his songs, and his very presence. Over the intervening years, we talked about Tom (and Rita) and retold some of his great stories. On our last visit to Caltra in 2017, we were lucky enough to spend time with him again, and with many of our wonderful Macken relatives. He was in fine form - telling more stories, showing us photos, and reminiscing about our family. And we happily introduced him to my first grandchild James and son-in-law John Burgess. We all have great memories from those visits and are heartbroken that we could not see him again to tell him how much we loved him.

Rest In Peace, Tom, my cousin, my friend. We will greatly miss you and you will always be in our hearts!
