I first met Tom in the summer of 1984, when I was doing an internship at the Sunday World. He was kind, helpful and generous. It was great to reconnect again in the Dublin Journalists' Golf Society, where he was always great company and we had many enjoyable rounds. RIP Tom

Very sorry to hear of Tom's passing. We crossed paths in Dublin on the media beat and here in Ballinrobe, where he was a regular visitor and great friend of the Gannon family, in particular. Always a pleasure to meet Tom in either setting - he was great company. Deepest sympathy to all the family and friends. May he rest in peace.

Tom was a great photographer, a ‘real pro’, who always aimed for the highest standards, in his work, his dress and his courteous behaviour, always helpful and obliging to younger colleagues. He will be greatly missed along with his beguiling impish smile.
