Tom  McGARRY

Limerick are the leading lights in senior hurling and received 12 All Star awards for their efforts in 2021 season. Tom was of All Ireland standing in Stewardship and deserved numerous All Star awards for the manner in which he carried out his duties at UL Gaelic Grounds and the many venues in Munster where he welcomed all the media family with a winning smile, respect, positive attitude and had the unique skill of making everyone feel that they were the person he wanted to especially meet. Sincere sympathy to all the McGarry family. I was saddened to hear of Tom's death. It brought memories flooding back of my boyhood - in Farranshone and Thomondgate - and of schooldays in St Munchin's down the Crossroad in the mid 1950s, when Tom was peerless on the field, in hurling and football, and Treaty-Sarsfields feared no one. He was a hero to us all. Trócaire ar a anam uasal.

It is with great sadness that I learned of Tom's passing. Just as in sports, Tom was a great team man at work and a great ambassador for our company. His great big smile and sunny disposition would brighten up the dullest of days. May he now rest in peace. Conn Buckley -- Diageo Limerick
