I remember Tom coming in to chat to the class (one of whom was Thomas) prior to a general election..... with Fine Gael pens for everyone!! He spoke so eloquently about politics. The children hung on his every word. May he rest in peace.

Dear Helen and family, please accept my condolences for the passing of Tom - whom I have in memory as an outstanding colleague in the European Parliament, who introduced me - with a lot of humour - into Irish politics. In the past years, I often quoted him in my speeches. I am proud that we opened an Interregional Working Group Ireland - Baden-Württemberg, and as Tom was a practically thinking man also an exchange scheme for Interns for the University of Limerick in Germany, R.I.P. !

Our fond memories of Tom go back to the mid 70's when he officially recognized as a Gaeltacht An Clochán-Breanainn on the northern Dingle penninsula.

His many visits there always brought joy and encouragement to all of us who, to this day hold a solemn appreciation of his work.

Again on behalf of ourselfs, our family, friends and neighbours in 'Gaeltacht Tomás O'Domhnaill', taimíd go léir ag cuineamh oraibh.

May Tom's gently soul rest in peace.
