My sincerest sympathies to Gavin, Bryan, Maeve, Ciara, and the extended O'Donoghue family on the heartbreaking losses you've endured, your beloved aunt Frances, your mother Mary, and now your dear father Tom.

I have fond memories of your mam and dad from those nostalgic, sunny Sunday afternoons in Greenville, where all the grandkids would get up to mischief while the parents enjoyed some well-earned adult time.

And of course, the many Friday nights (and quite often Tuesdays) at the dog track, they truly shared a deep love for their family and a passion for greyhound racing, which they passed on to the next generation, enjoying much success alongside Mary’s father, Jimmy.

I also remember being in the car with Tom as a kid, in his Ford Sierra, when he decided to try and “race the moon” home, and somehow, it made perfect sense in the moment.
