Tom (Tex) MOONEY

Heartfelt sympathy to Ann, Tommy, Peter, Douglas and Gay on the death of Tex. Loads of happy memories from the early 70s... this cheeky chap from the Evening Press came calling to our flat in Glasnevin, and soon all became firm friends - reliable, forthright, practical and always good for a crooked argument on any topic. The Light of Heaven to Tex.

Shocked to hear about the sad death of Tex, Ann. Just heard about it today, 8th June. Will keep him in our prayers.

So sorry Ann for your loss. Tom was a wonderful neighbour and a great man to take on any challenge. He ran the residents committee in Bourlum better than most businesses. He will be sadly missed.

Deepest sympathy to you, Ann, and to all the family, on Tom's untimely death. I was truly shocked at the news. Having worked with Tom in the Nationalist newsroom, I can say that few people have put as much into their work as he did. He was a man of integrity who did not spare himself. He met a great setback to his health some years ago but managed to be his usual courteous and interested self whenever we met and chatted. Sadly he had a lot more to give to the community but that was not to be.

To Ann and family. What a shock to learn of Tom's death. I thought he would go on forever being a man of combative spirit, which led to many good natured verbal sparring bouts in Ireland on Sunday where we worked for many a day. Our birthdays fell on the same day and we had fun to see who could get in best wishes first, either by phone or text. I shall miss him.

I remember how welcoming Tom was to us when we visited for Doug and Laura’s wedding. He was a really lovely, friendly man. Our heartfelt sympathy goes to Ann, Doug, Tommy and Peter.

Very sad to hear that Doug's father passed away. I was lucky enough to meet Tom on a few occasions and he was a wonderful man. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of the death of Tom Mooney. My sincere sympathy to his family and friends. During his time as editor of the nationalist he introduced the nationalist short story and he published several of my short stories during that period. I only ever spoke to him on the phone but he was always
kind and courteous and very encouraging . May he rest in peace.
