Tom became my friend in the Jes when I arrived there in 1957. Having come from another school, I knew nobody in Méan Rang 1. He made a difficult transition much easier for me.
I have always remembered him for that kindness; so typical of the kind of caring person that he was.
"Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince;
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest".
My sincere condolences to the Welby family.

With the recent update of the Condolences, I notice the similarity between the ones written by Aidan and me! 'Identical twins with identical memories/experiences' with Tom! I am sure Tom is having a laugh from above!

I feel as though I knew my friend Tom most of my life. Meeting him in London where I use to frequent our local where Tom loved a game of darts. together with friends we would laugh at old times back in Ireland and occasionally have nice walks in the park. Tom eventually moved back to his beloved Galway but we always remained friends. He will be sadly missed. rest in peace dear friend R.i.P.

I have many fond memories of my Uncle Tom. During our time in Galway, he took my brothers and me to the movies and gave us our dog, Rosie. As a young adult, I enjoyed 2 weeks with him in London, during which time Granny and Granda also visited and we saw the sights together.
Rest in peace, Uncle Tom.

I will cherish fond memories of my Uncle Tom. As a youngster in Salthill, I remember that the 70’s mustache and Rosie the black Labrador, who remained with us. As a young adult, the stays with Tom in London with the conversations and stories. And lastly, our last visit in Clifden. His kindness, humor and generosity will be remain with me. Rest in peace Tom. God Bless.
Tom, I recall hearing great stories of your unusual birth and how the hospital wanted to make a fuss by getting the press and TV on board to document your birth. But your precious mother did not want any fuss and said no.
My condolences to your precious family and extended family. Praying for God’s comfort to rest on them today and in the days ahead.

Comhbhrón ó chroí to the family of good friend Tom. Bhí muid san rang céanna i gColáiste Iognáid. He was always very friendly at school. We played many hurling matches there. I have good memories of the many class reunions prior to his health problems setting in. It was always uplifting to visit him in Clifden. UCHG and An Caisleán Gearr in recent years.
