Tomm DOWLING

My deepest sympathies to Denyse, Angie, Martin and Tomm's extended family . A great ex radio colleague at 96.6, both in studio and around the grounds. We spent many cold days in Buckley Park and assorted other League of Ireland grounds and shared more than a few nights on the town. I've no doubt he's up there watching Liverpool and listening to Elton John tracks. May He Rest in Peace.

We only recently heard of the sad news of Tom's passing. Deepest sympathy to Tom's immediate family, extended families and friends of Tom. Back over the years Tom's name was a household name in our home between being DJ at discos and commentating on the racing on KCR prior to the TV coverage on 'At The Races'. His racing knowledge was second to none. May you rest in peace now Tomm.

I have very fond memories of working with Tomm in KCLR96FM, my abiding memory was the morning after Liverpool won the Champions League after a miracle comeback against AC Milan, Tomm was a little worse for wear, but the happiest man in Kilkenny that day. Rest in Peace Tomm

I’m shocked and greatly saddened to hear of Tomm’s passing. I first met Tomm in 1991 and his knowledge of Racing was second to none. A winner alright. May the light of Heaven shine upon him.

It was with great sorrow that I heard of Tomm's passing. My sincere condolences to Tomm's Family, extended Family and Friends, of which he had so many. I negotiated secondary school in the CBS in KK with Tomm, where he was very generous with his homework (which we would cog) and further into life as we discovered Radio and had so much craic in KCR out in Ballycallan. The Gigs, like the No Name Club, Roller Disco's in the Carlton, Tuesdays in Newpark and further still in Radio Kilkenny, Kclr and CRKC, the stories are the stuff of legend, and I am proud to have shared them with Tomm. As we all grew older, our conversation began to reflect the passing and shifting of the sands of time. Friends were lost, children and grandchildren were born and Tom was majestic in his observations of life, reflecting the kindness, courtesies and empathy of a decent human being. It is rare that one finds friends in school and maintain that friendship for life. Tomm Dowling, Legend, may the wind be at your back and Rest in Peace now. You did good.

I'm very sorry to hear of Tomm's passing.
We co-presented the 'Points of View' programme on CKR FM in the mid-1990s - very enjoyable times working with great colleagues.
Tomm was highly intelligent, a supremely talented broadcaster and he always displayed a positive attitude to the inevitable vicissitudes of life.
I'm thinking and praying for Tomm's family at this sad time, especially Denyse and Tommy whom I met on our trips to support Liverpool FC in the 1990s.
As Tomm said to me many times: "May the force be with you"!
And may the light of Heaven shine brightly on Tomm's gentle soul.
