Tommie was a wonderful human being and a great musician.Unfortunatly he left too soon, and all we have left are the memories. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends.May his soul rest in peace.
Sincere sympathy to Margaret, cousins and all who were so saddened to hear the sad news of Tommie's passing. Though our paths hadn't crossed in recent times, the news brought back vivid and great memories of our times together when we were young. Tommie filled every room he entered with laughter, joy and fantastic music whenever he played. I had the honour of being his roadie and driver when he played with "Sho-gun" , I had the privilege of sitting in for solo rehearsals of anything from "Sweet child of mine " to The Lomesome boatman". May you Rest in peace Tommie.
Very sorry to hear of Tommie's passing. Sincere condolences to Margaret and extended family.. may he rest in peace..
I was Tommies postman for a good few years and we always had the crack, a lovely fellow . God Rest his soul ,RIP
Tommie was a great musical talent with a great spirit of generosity. He inspired many musicians. Back in the 90s, he encouraged me in my pursuit of improving my bodhrán playing skills. Along with the craic agus ceoil, we had memorable long conversations on philosophy and spiritual topics. I felt we had an affinity of outlook on life. It’s so sad he’s gone. Rest in Peace Tommie.
My sincere condolences to Margaret and to all Tommies family and his large circle of friends.
May you have peace in your heart Tommie and enjoy being reunited with your lovely brother Tony and your dear Dad Tommy.
May you all rest in eternal peace 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Tommie, you will forever leave a mark in our home in Cloonty. Leaving your keyboards in the hands of our Colm was risky in its own right 🎷🎻🪗 but when mother heard a tune that you played so often in our house, she was convinced you were there. Mam was astonished that you didn’t pop your head in the kitchen door to say hello as you always did…. You were off travelling in the states or in London at the time. Our Colm remembered what limited notes you taught him on the keyboards and was quite happily blasting away by himself in the lounge room thinking he was a class act 🙈 🙄🫤🫠 Mam thought you were home for your holidays and was delighted… until the tune ran out of notes.. that’s when the craic started 🤩😀🌟🌟🌟. You brought such joy and laughter to our home Tommie. Thank you for being a loving and loyal friend. May you have peace in your heart now and enjoy being reunited with Tony and your Dad. Amen 🙏🏻

Sympathy to Margaret and all his relations and friends. May he rest in peace
I am so deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my old friend, in music, Tommie Scanlon.
May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
We performed and toured together from the mid- 90s to the early 2000s in the Sligo band “ Cadenza “ which I co-founded with Anna Houston. Tommie brought so much musicality and originality to our music and he was the master of so many musical instruments as well as a strong vocalist.
Whenever Tommie joined us on stage, he never repeated the same performance twice …..no it just got better and better each time!
Once he generously gifted me one of his precious guitars and I will treasure that instrument always.
Tommie was a gifted musician who could have played comfortably on any world stage because he listened so carefully to the music, always bringing it to another level albeit through his improvisational skills or his innate musicianship.
He loved and respected all his loyal friends and fellow musicians and he was a pure gentleman to the core.
He will be very sadly missed by all who were lucky to know him and to call a true friend.
I offer my sincerest condolences to Tommie’s family and relatives during this difficult time.
He is making sweet music now with the angels and peacefully at rest.
See you on the other side my sweet friend.

A few words aren't enough to catch the essence of Tommie, he was uniquely himself, like no other. When I think of him time will always go back to himself and Tony coming rambling, the two of them laughing, full of life, full of fun. How lucky we are to have been able to call Tommie our friend. Rest in peace now, condolences to Margaret.
Sad to hear of Tommie passing.Worked with Tommie in Sligo Co Co.Was a sound man, God rest Tommie.
I remember wakening up one Saturday morning, I was only about ten, to hear beautiful guitar playing coming from the kitchen. It was Tommie, he sang the song, House of the Rising sun. My first time ever to hear it. I always associate that song with Tommie. Great memories great laughs. He had such a great laugh! Hope you’re reunited with Tony and your Dad. Condolences to Margaret, his extended family and his many friends.
Deepest and sincere sympathy to Margaret, Tommie's extended family, neighbours and friends on the sad passing of Tommie.
Highly intelligent, unique and a gifted musician I have fond memories of Tommie from Gurteen, Knappagh Road Sligo 1985 and New York in '89/'90.
Tommie and his band 'The Clan' cut a record 'The Beginning Of The World' on Clandestine records, 8th Avenue New York in '87, but it was later with Mike Moynihan and the 'Banner Boys' that I got to hear him play around New York '89. He was a versatile musician, switching between instruments during the gigs. Courier by day, musician by night - to me Tommie seemed happiest during those years, he even cycled from Manhattan across the 59th Street Bridge to visit me in Sunnyside Queens once, no mean feat in itself, no luxury of cycle lanes those days just a 9ft shared sidewalk on the Bridge!
Sadly, I lost touch with Tommie the last few years as lives take different paths but it is with fondness that I will remember him. He was a Gentleman.
May He Rest In Eternal Peace.

So so sorry to hear of Tommie's passing. A gentle soul who loved a chat and for me that chat was always about music, and did he know his stuff when it came to music. A talented, polite, mannerly, gentle man. Your struggle is over Tommie, time to rest peacefully. Spare a thought and a prayer for us mere mortals down here from your new home on high.

I’m so saddened to learn of Tommie’s untimely passing and I offer my sincere condolences to you Margaret, to Tommie’s relatives and friends. Tommie, RIP, what a talented lad, could master many instruments, had a great singing voice, any genre came easy to him, his renditions on flute, impeccable, was he able to drive that guitar!!!!!, no better man!!!,, rock was his favourite, he could make those guitar strings bend like no other! He just loved music, loved talking about music, loved playing music, loved trying out new guitar pedals/sounds. He was an unbelievable musician with brains to burn who loved making people happy. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílís go deo.
