Tommy Battle

We are shocked and saddened at Tommy's death. Our family had many a memorable holiday at the Atlantic Hotel, in the 80s and 90s. Tommy and his lovely wife Angela, who provided such marvellous meals, were excellent hosts. I recall a few late nights on a high stool in Tommy's company as we relished Michelle Smith's successes at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. We also recall Angela's parents Tom and Mrs Nicholson.

We offer our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to all the Battle family on the sad occasion of Tommy's sudden passing..R.I.P..We were so sorry we couldn't make the funeral but we managed to follow it on line...During the ceremony we recalled a host of wonderful and cherished memories in the company of Tommy and Angela in Atlantic Hotel...In later years we had our usual stroll along the beach remembering old times on return visits..
At xmas time we always looked forward to receiving a card with some comical comment re current affairs..

So sorry to hear of the sudden death of my very dear friend Tommy. We have been friends for over 70 years and I have such happy memories of our Football, Golf, Tennis , Cards , Horse Racing and the occasional Pint. Eventhough I have lived in the UK for 30 years we have kept touch. I enjoyed a coffee with Tommy 5 weeks ago in Ballina.

Not alone did he entertain us with his singing, but on the day of the Grand National he took our bets and never refused to make us Irish coffees —- every barman’s nightmare. Similar to many we have fond a cherished memories of growing up in Enniscrone with Tommy & Angela and all in Tom's Top Ten being at the heart of those precious memories. Your mum and Dad made us feel like family and old friends. We loved nothing more than standing on the seats dancing and singing along to Seasaw man & North to Alaska along with bellowing out with Pride ‘Sam’s coming back to Mayo’ even against the Dubs!!

Your Mum & Dad were the best. We are thinking of you and all in Enniscrone as you say your final farewell to this very special man. We hope you get comfort out of all these fond memories and knowing Tommy is now back together with his precious and beloved Angela 🤍

As former members of Tullamore Musical Society we always looked forward to our annual trip to the Atlantic Hotel and Tom’s Top Ten where we were so well looked after by super hosts Tommy and Angela.
