I was sad to hear of Tom's passing. I had the honour of working with Tom. He was a great mentor, and the depth of knowledge and respect he had for rivers was truly inspiring. That passion left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. Greatly saddened on hearing of Toms passing. Had pleasure of knowing Tom when we both worked in The Southern Regional Fisheries Board. A mild mannered man, always a gentleman and a pleasure to work with. May he rest in peace.

Dear Maura, and Family.

My sincer condolences on the sad passing of Tom.
I first met Tom when I was a teenager when Tom worked on Lough Sheelin.
I later joined the Central Fisheries Board and had the pleasure of working with Tom and the late Martin O'Grady ( rip ).

In the 1980's Tom showed me how to Operate 26 foot half decker trawler " The white Swan and the Green Drake On Sheelin and Ennell. Tom also showed me how to Long-line for Pike on Ennell, Tom could spot the marker floats long before I could.. when I asked him how come you can see the markers long before me ? He then told me that he was following Trans-lines from the shore and actually could not see the marker bouys..
I learned a lot from Tom and enjoyed his company.

I was greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Tommy - Tom as he was known to us in the Fisheries Service.

Sincere condolences to Maura: Tommy's children Kevin, Aideen, Nuala, Maeve and your families; brothers Paudie and Noel; sisters Margaret, Patty and Maureen: grandchildren and to all members of the extended family on your bereavement. While at this time your thoughts and feelings are of loss and sadness, in the fullness of time I hope you will be able to reflect on all of the good times you had and those special memories of Tommy and take comfort and solace from them.

Tom Sullivan was just a lovely man and a pleasure to work with. He is remembered by us all for being so helpful and cooperative and for his calming and knowledgeable influence. There is hardly a waterbody in the country Tom did not survey. His particular expertise in electrofishing led to his contributing to the body of historical data we have on fish stocks over the years. Always modest and unassuming, Tom had a kind word for everyone. I am honoured to have known and worked with him.

May Tommy Rest in Eternal Peace and May His Memory Be a Blessing on You His Family.

At Aideen’s wedding to Tom, Tommy welcomed the Spaldings into the Sullivan family. That felt special. He was an exceptional man; kind, intelligent and very good company. I know that you will miss him greatly. We are very glad to have known him.

Tommy was an exceptional man in many ways. His knowledge and understanding of Nature was wonderful and he was happy to share his thoughts with us. He cared very much for his family, his village, his church and the wider community. He will be greatly missed.
