I'm still crying, the house is still empty, empty chairs at empty tables , we adopted a cat and the cat keeps touching your urn and keeps sitting beside your urn. You would love him, skippy a ginger kitten
. I can't stop crying, mom is lost and heartbroken, and Roxy is getting very old and tired , life goes on, but it's so hard to move on Dad, from Aisling.

My condolences to Sadhbh, Eoghan and Aisling on the death of Tony. I had the great privilege of working with Tony in Knocklyon and of undertaking postgraduate studies with him. A wonderful scholar, teacher and human being who inspired many. Thinking of all Tony's family at this very sad time.

It is only Sadhbh, Aisling, Eoghan, his mother Peg, brother Patrick, sister Margaret and immediate family know of the great loss Tony is to them. As a friend, Tony was an absolute gentleman and all who knew him will attest to this. The respect his students had for him was admirable but not surprising. His modesty was matched only by his erudition which he bore so lightly. He was unassuming to a fault and kind and understanding to all who were fortunate enough to have met and known him. His interest and knowledge of Education was unparalleled and his publications on the history of Education are essential reading for any scholar of the discipline. His sporting achievements and love and knowledge of Kerry football were a source of immense pride to Tony. His roots in the beauty of his beloved North Kerry were his rock and made him a true Kerryman. The real Tony was seen in recent years when he bore his long illness with patience and dignity. Although dear Tony was not officially my Father in law, I thought of him lovingly as such for a long time. This was not only a result of our conversations about the Irish language, history, literature & modern culture, but because of how at home I felt in his presence. I worked with Tony in Holy Family N.S. Rathcoole before he started as a lecturer in Mary Immaculate.
A wonderful colleague and friend- we worked together, we played football together and we even saved turf together in the Dublin mountains.
