We have fond memories of his visits to Charles Fort down through the years. It was always a pleasure to talk with him and to listen to him. His knowledge, grasp and understanding of Irish history was immense. His loss will be keenly felt.

Tony will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him regularly. Our weekly discussions over a social pint or two ranged over many topics but invariably returned to history, archaeology and books. He had an incredible depth of knowledge gleaned from years of research, talking to people and field work. He was a scholar in its finest sense. His loss to the community is immense but nothing to what Maureen and his family are feeling to whom I convey my deep sympathy.
