Sadness was felt throughout Toonagh and Dysart at the shocking news of Tony's passing. Everybody knew and loved Tony Cullinan - he was an outstanding fiddle player and was one of the first students to come through the Frank Custy Academy.

Tony along with Mick Nestor, Sean Conway, Cyril Cullinan, PJ King, James Whelan, Pat Cullinan and countless others made up the original ceili band. He came from a strong musical family encouraged by both parents Maryann and Paddy. They were steeped in music and culture, the 4 Cullinan brothers often played together in their younger days.

As a musician, Tony made a truly enormous contribution to the music of Clare, he shared his music and always made room for all in a session. He was a rare and kind gentleman, saw the best in people and his attitude to life was amazing. He had a larger than life personality and lived his life to the full, never offending anybody and entertaining people along the way. His popularity was further exemplified at his place of work in the railway station.

Tony will be sadly missed by his wife Kathleen and their family and his legion of friends, neighbours and musical colleagues. Condolences to you all. May Tony rest in God's peace and play with the great ceili band in the sky!

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to you on the sad passing on of your beloved husband and father, Tony.

He was a great friend of our Uncle and Aunt, Martie and Deila Mangan (Ballaghboy, Doora... at the crossroads) and we well remember that when they passed, he gave them both a very fitting musical send-off at their gravesides.

We also have many fond memories of meeting Tony and enjoying his fantastic musuc at the Gort Cooley-Collins festival, where he was always so generous helping and encouraging younger musicians.

A lovely gentleman and a fine musician, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

It is with great sadness, we learn of the passing on of Tony RIP.

On behalf of the committee of Gort Cooley-Collins Festival, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Kathleen, to Pádraig, Cormac, Antóin, Clodagh and all Tony's family and loved ones.

Tony has consistently been a loyal supporter of our festival and of music itself- always generous with his help and kindness, especially to younger musicians. No festival was complete without Tony, himself a popular and gifted musician, who was held in the highest esteem by young and old alike.

He will be greatly missed by us all as we hold his family in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
