Few deaths have elicited such a sense of shóck, disbelief and genuine sympathy in London and Leitrim, as that of Tony McGovern. Coming just a short year after that of his older brother James, who, with the late Peter and Tony, were the bedrock of support from the McGovern Brothers to so many causes, not least to their home parish, Aughavas.
For Bernadette and their children Anita, Tara and Anthony, son in law Ramon and the grandchildren, brothers Gerry and Tom, sisters in law, nieces and nephews their grief is very personal and deserving of sincere sympathy and support. So too, the long serving and dedicated staff, the London Leitrim Association and an extensive list of close friends are in our thoughts.
Tony McGovern has been a by word for generosity: just think of Aughavas Club and Parish, Leitrim GAA, McGovern Park, Ruislip, the North West Hospice and hospices throughout London and beyond,
LAPWD, Childhood Days Centre, a wheelchair bus adapted for disabled children, a variety of sponsorships, donations and thoughtful gifts for individuals or families in need.
Tony's funeral mass in St Joseph's Church will certainly reflect the good this man has done.

London and Leitrim salute you Tony.
Codladh sámh duit.
— Tommy Moran, Ballinamore
