We are shocked & saddened to hear of Tony’s passing. Sincere condolences to the McPartland family extended family & his close friends. Tony was a kind & gentle person. We enjoyed a visit from him every Christmas & he always brought a cake or an apple tart. He enjoyed a cuppa & a chat. He will be sadly missed. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Condolences to Connie and the McPartland family. My cycling buddy has gone to the Highway in Heaven. Tony was always entertaining and would greet you with a smile on his face and a fun up to date story to tell. We passed away many hours putting the world to rights. I will certainly miss his enthusiasm and twinkle in the eye. I was lucky enough to know you Tony, thank you for your friendship.

Another one of “the old guard” gone to his eternal reward. Tony was a character and force larger than life. His irrepressible energy was legendary as was his sense of humour and love of music.

I was taken aback to read of his death - he seemed as though he would go on forever - and I remember clearly our last meeting, at the funeral in Manorhamilton of his relative, and lifelong friend of my late mother’s family, Mary McPartland; the great fun we had in swapping stories of Manor and its characters of the old days.

Through his wide range of interests but most especially his pedagogical career, Tony touched and helped beneficently shape the lives of many generations. As G. K. Chesterton is reported to once have said “Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.”

Rest well, Tony.

We will miss Tony so much. Alway's welcoming with a big smile and a warm home. We always looked forward to his lamb dinner. His sprit will be with us forever, we will carry his memory wherever we go. He is returning to god and has so many of our loved ones waiting to receive him. We can see that reunion in our minds, full of love and happiness. One day we will all join them for some great crack.
