To Aisling, Karen, Marc & Garrett . . .

I was sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. Such a lovely man. Some of my earliest childhood memories are from the farmhouse holiday we shared quite by accident (in the neighbouring cottage) all those years ago and discovered this amazing life long friends roughly the same age as us. Ballymountain House Innishannon in Co Cork. I can still hear the little tune we made up. Turned out we lived only a mile away from each other in Raheny. Our parents became great friends as did we as kids. It’s such a shame we seem to only see each other at funerals now.

It was lovely to see Tony (with Aisling and Karen) at my Mothers funeral last year. I suspect that was a big effort for Tony at the time. We, as a family, really appreciated it.

Unfortunately myself and my partner Pearly have both come down with Covid in the last few days so I am very upset to be unable to see you or attend the service for Tony - but please accept all our Deepest Condolences on behalf of all the Manahan’s near and far and absent.

Aisling, Karen, Marc and Garrett, I am so sad to learn of the death of your Dad. Tony was one of the kindest, gentlest and wisest men I have had the good fortune to know. I feel very privileged to have been his friend and colleague for so long. You know, he never tired of talking about his "kids" and it was abundantly clear that he was so proud of each one of you. My sincere sympathy to you and your wider family on your great loss
I first met Tony when I joined ICI in Dame Street in 1968 and we were colleagues and good friends for more than forty years.
Outside the office my wife and I, Tony and a few other friends would meet up for poker nights and, from time to time, I used travel with him to his Sunday afternoon League of Ireland assignment for RTE radio. Thankfully there was usually something worth putting in his ninety second slot for the evening sports report. But if there wasn't, on the drive back to the GPO, (with me taking notes), Tony's creativity was boundless.
Farewell and safe journey AFO'D my dear friend. I will never forget you and all that I owe you. I'm sure that when you meet up with Maureen and your great pal Liam there will be lots of tales to tell, a few bottles of "Bulls Blood" to be downed and the heavens will reverberate with laughter.
Rest in Peace

Dear Aishling, Karen, Marc & Garret,

My sincere regrets to learn of your fathers passing. He was such a gentleman with always a kind warm word and a calming effect. He and Maureen were the very best neignbours to our entire family especially my mother in her latter years.
I recall your father surprising me when he told me he went to uni for his lawyers degree when he was already over 60 if I am not mistaken.
Another memory is when he and Maureen arrived home from the hospital with their new born Aishling in their arms. As children, we crawled through the hedge to visit Tony & Maureen's beautiful garden without them once complaining.
My very best regards and condolences.
