Reading through all the condolences I am struck by the depth of feeling there is for Una. She touched so many of our lives in such a positive way. For those of us fortunate to have known she was inspiring, kind thoughtful, committed and great fun. She made a huge impact on me from the first day I met her cutting turf in mountain for Simon community 40 years ago although She was a treasured friend and have many happy memories to cherish. I
will miss her and our heart felt feelings are with you Jimmy, Sadhbh, Cian and Fiachra.

In Sarsfield Quay Simon - an astonishing shelter; the pre-history flux of social care - Úna raised awareness of how co workers' motivation and good feelings about doing good should be included in how they cared for others, and how they cared for themselves.

This seemed like doing philosophy in a hurricane. But Úna made the connections - with wicked humour - and showed us that the need of others might be a place chosen to shelter from one's own hurricane. That conversation leads to a philosophy of care which is set in the direction of being empowering to others and enlivening to one self.
