I have fond memories of Una, who I met many times over the years when I was visiting Bernie in Dublin. She was a memorable personality- full of vivacity, story-telling, sharp wit and character. She was clearly a devoted and loyal friend, and a much loved and appreciated family member. May she Rest in Peace
Una was one of my Nana Bernie’s dearest friends, and I’ve always had a deep fondness for her. Whenever we met, she would share the most wonderful stories—of her adventures with my Nana and of her own college days, which I especially loved hearing about as a college student myself. I’ll miss her infectious enthusiasm, her warmth, and her wit. Thinking of the entire McCullough family and sending all my love Xx
We were all so sorry to hear the sad news this week. My Mam, Eilish met Una, Grainne Curran & Bernie De Burca in the late 1940s and they remained solid friends all their lives. Mam was so fond of Una, she got great mileage from their student adventures back in the day and they enjoyed great chats and laughs over the years. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.
I offer my condolences to McCullough families on the death of Aunt Una. I was blessed to enjoy her company on many occasions. My late brother Vivian Lavan thought the world of her. She was a wonderful story teller. I recall a Christmas celebration where Aunt Una engaged us with marvelous family history reflections. I can also see her enjoying lunch with friends in The Talbot Hotel where I met friends for a monthly gathering. She was blessed with support of nieces and nephews. I extend sincere sympathy to my sister in law Una Lavan who was Una’s Goddaughter and very caring of her Dad’s last remaining sibling. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dilís.
Una was a friend of my mother, Bernie de Burca, and became a friend of mine over time. She was a great character and a real lady. She was a great storyteller about the past and her family life. She had a wonderful capacity to laugh at herself and at the absurdity of life. I will miss her a lot.
We are so sad to hear of
Una's passing. Our sympathy goes to her family. Una was a great character full of stories and fun. She was always talking about her family especially her husband and her Dad. We missed her company after she left our group to go to The Little Sisters where she was cared for so well . May Una rest in perfect peace. Mary Vera and all The Friday Ladies
Una was a lifelong friend to my mother, Bernie, and a very loyal one particularly during the last years of Bernie's life when her health was failing. Una had great character - she was lively, humorous, spirited, gracious and strong-minded! She told us all kinds of interesting stories about her childhood, her family and her parents in particular. She will be greatly missed. I hope that she, Bernie, Eilis McCarthy and Grainne Curran are having a great reunion up above. RIP.
