Sincere condolences, to you Clare, and to all your siblings, and to Úna's family on the loss of your beloved sister, Úna. Your grandfather, James Fitzpatrick, who fought heroically for a free and Independent Ireland, alongside our ancestors in 1916, would have been very proud of Úna's contribution to the teaching, recording and commemoration of the narrative of Irish History, especially around the seminal events for Independence.

Úna was a great person with her friendly nature and admirable teaching skills inspired many students and fellow teachers. She touched so many lives with her good humour and enthusiasm in everything she undertook. My deepest sympathy to all the family.

Some of my best childhood memories were of visiting Tommy and Una's farm and exploring for hours on end and getting into general mischief. I feel very lucky to have had these experiences and thank the O'Brien family from the bottom of my heart for them.

My condolences Kieran on the passing of your sister Una.

Una was a wise, witty, warm and wonderful woman. We met in Colaiste Dhulaigh where we worked on many projects together she was very bright & inspirational and the students loved her. We also became great friends, she so enjoyed the holidays in Portrane where I’m from so we reminisced. Over many years we came together on some Community & History Projects , Una with the deep Historical knowledge as is testimony in the many books she wrote and me with a few skills at organising. We had a big part in the bus tours of Fingal for 1916 all dressed up with Una on the mic. In one chat we came up with Donabate Parish Hall as the ideal old world rural place to put on a play for it’s first outing, that had refused permission to The Abbey Theatre as it was not the right place ! A measure of the woman & her tenacity always community driven. A family woman to the core, I knew ye all - whether we had met or not! she was so proud of ye all. Tommy & Una were a great team that left a great legacy. Rest in peace good friend will miss our cups of coffee and always a good chat. RIP Breda

Úna has gone to join her grandfather, James Fitzpatrick, one of the generation of heroes to whom we owe our independence. He hoisted the flag at Marrowbone Lane during Easter week, 1916. Other descendants of that generation were with you at her funeral mass, thanks to your putting it on utube. We appreciate the work that Úna did to keep alive the historical memories of the great people who inspire us. Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

So very sad to hear of Auntie Una’s passing. She was a tremendous woman, full of energy and information and great company. Many's the time I got home late of a Saturday night to discover Noreen, John, Eileen, Joe, Una and Tommy having the craic, playing cards. I also remember time spent on the farm in childhood.
