My darling Sismese twin, I am missing you desperately. I keep reading all these lovely messages of condolence, you were so loved by so many people. You changed lives, made people feel cared for, special, important.

Your beautiful smiling face, your enormous handbag full of random stuff, your effervescence, your phones and camera and sunglasses and just stuff, stuff everywhere lol, you radiated life and energy and joy.

Everyone loved you. Our hearts are all broken. James, Ross, Sean, Larry, Henry-dog, Jasmine, the Angels, and so many friends here, in Scotland, in South Africa, everywhere - you touched our worlds.

My dear friend Val, we are only learning of your passing today. I am so sorry to hear this. My deepest sympathy to Lar, Ross and Sean and to James whom I haven't met. You were my link to my old friend, Susan. I hope the two of you are having a catch up together and enjoying a loop the loop ice lolly. Rest now my beautiful friend, I will think of you often when I am by the sea.

So so sad to hear of Val's untimely passing.
I remember her beauty, her strength, her fun loving attitude and I can still hear her laugh from our days in Meadows.

Val, I’ll miss you so much. I have so many wonderful memories of Chicken curries in the Cock tavern for lunch and running down the dual carriageway to outrun a thunder shower, watching the Euros in the Harp shouting at the screen, rounders with the gang followed by Bbq in your garden, to our more recent troll around North Co. Dublin in search of Rape fields to photograph. You were a fabulous friend who supported and lifted me through my own cancer and were always there to bounce issues off. You were a wonderful mother and friend to both Ross and Sean and so proud of everything they did. We will all say “what would Val have suggested I do?”when times are rough. I feel so lucky that you chose me as a friend. My sympathy to Ross, Sean, James, Bill, June, Hazel, Lar and all Val’s family and friends. Rest in Peace Val. Xx

Sean, I was so sad when my son, Iollann Mc Keon, told me this awful news. You came to our house some months ago, and your graciousness made a lasting impression. Your mother was clearly a wonderful parent, and a cherished friend to many. Our heartfelt condolences go to you and your brother, and all extended family and friends

I met this beautiful woman through photography, she was amazing photographer and had loads of knowledge and I've learned so much from her. But not only that we clicked and we had a nice friendship...gonna miss you pal ❤️. Every picture I take it will remind me of you xx

I used to live Malahide and had the pleasure of knowing the Donabate Trio (Val, Bill and Connie) and shared many a laugh as I rode the bus or train to and from Mount Temple with the crew. I also have memories of being in Donabate and going out to fruit fields that Connie mentioned above, and while It must be at least 35 years since I last saw Val, and like Connie also mentioned - I will always remember Val's smile and her laughter.

I am so grateful that in recent years I reconnected with Val on Facebook and then Instagram as we shared our love of photography, and it was a delight to watch her skill continue to grow as she captured the beauty she saw around her.

Like so many others, I am in shock and so very saddened upon hearing the news today, and find myself very moved as I sit to type this out, but what a wonderful legacy Val leaves behind in the lives of those who knew her.

Val, I will miss you very much, and I want to thank you for being a bright light in life growing up.

On the loss of a beautiful soul. Val you were such an amazing mum to your boys Ross and Sean. A kind, gentle and soft hearted person. Always smiling and were full of life. You were such a good friend to me and my boys Shane and Luke. Our deepest condolences to the boys, James and your family. We will miss you. Love Always, Audrey, Shane and Luke.

Val, everyone can see how much you were loved by everyone you have met. The best memorys I can share are of the weddings. Mine and millis in a field at a festival. You were litterally everywhere popping up with your camera and a huge smile. This was the exact same for Calum and Laura a few years later. Your smile was infectious and you captured that in all your photos which we will always treasure. Thinking of James, Ross, Sean and everyone else today ❤️
