We have such wonderful, happy memories of Valerie. She was a true lady and a talented and dedicated piano teacher. She will be missed. May she Rest In Peace.
I had the good fortune to know Valerie for the past 24 years. I tuned her piano and I always enjoyed visiting her beautiful home in Howth. We got on great, and she always had time for tea and chat.I always admired her positive get up and go can do attitude to life. Valerie kept the house and gardens pristine. I will miss you Valerie and my visits to Howth.
Sincere sympathy to Valerie’s family and friends. She was a wonderful musician and music teacher and gave me great guidance when I was a mature student of hers - quite a long time ago! May she Rest In Peace.

Valerie was a great friend of the familly and will be sadly missed. SHe was Nuala's piano teacher at the academy and great friend and we had many wonderfull musical evenings at her home and here in Castleknock many yeays ago. We also have very fond memories of picking fruit with Valeries mother and herself in the wonderfull garden in Howth and many swimming and picnic expiditions setting off from the house.
Valerie was a lifelong friend of my late parents, Alastair & Muriel McMillan. I got to know her well over the last 10 years. To me she was kind and thoughtful friend. She was a lovely lady. May she Rest in Peace.

What a privilege it was to have been taught by Valerie at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and what wonderful memories my family and I have of her over the decades. She epitomised all that was good in this world.... a lady through and through, caring. nurturing, motivating, genuinely wanting the best for her students, and a friend who maintained a strong connection with all who were fortunate to have known her. She also had a great sense of humour and enjoyed the funny banter my siblings and I would engage in with her. What fun we had! Her contributions to the RIAM and the music environ in general were extensive, and the ripple effect of her amazing work has permeated the lives of many generations of musicians. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts and we feel blessed to have called her our teacher and friend. Our deepest sympathies to the extended Walker family.
Dearest Valerie, you will be remembered with fondness and respect always. May you rest in peace.
The O'Shea Farren family is deeply saddened by the passing of Valerie Walker, a superb pianist and teacher to generations of pianists and a truly wonderful friend and colleague to our beloved Audrey Chisholm. Valeries was a great friend of my mum Biddy who also lived on Ceanchor rd (September ) and it was her who persuaded Valerie in her retirement to teach Piano to the locals especially her granddaughter Taggie. Tags was one of her first pupils in Vailma and then it blossomed . We had such fun at all her wonderful concerts and Taggie went on to study music . What an amazing lady ,who as one of the Piano mums we had such fun with .Thank you Valerie for all those good times xxx Larry and Belinda

So sad to learn that Valerie has left us but feeling privileged to have known this wonderful gracious lady. An inspirational teacher who imparted a true love of music to her pupils..memories of calling to her house to pick up one or other of the boys from his lesson. The piano still playing as one pushed open the door...sitting in front of the fire in that great room overlooking the garden...such a feeling of tranquillity as the lesson continued at the grand piano..and the delight when sometimes she played a piece..losing herself in the music..and then she would rise to greet me, tall, elegant and kind and with that beautiful speaking voice..and of course, her dry wit...and great sense of humour... An extraordinary hostess too..all those great Christmas concerts when her pride in and love for her pupils was apparent...they shone for her..I could hardly believe it when she told me that she was continuing with her classes on zoom during the lockdown! Who else but Valerie would have done that in her nineties. Thank you Valerie for so many treasured memories..and for having been a true friend to us. We will never forget you.

Very sad to hear of the death of Valerie, she was an exceptional person, always so kind and warm and beautiful. I have very fond memories of her.
May she rest in peace.❤️
My sympathies to all of the Walker family. Valerie will remain in my heart forever. I started studying piano with her at 4 years of age at the RIAM and she managed to have me on stage in my first concert in that same year! I was so tiny then that I had to jump off the piano stool to,reach up to the final notes in the piece, a moment that would often come up with Valerie since and bring tears of laughter! Supreme teacher and person and a close friend to me and my family from then to date. Sadly the pandemic interfered with us getting together as often but the wonderful chats remained on phone. We will miss her so much. Until we meet again our beautiful Valerie. Thank You for everything. We love you RIP 🙏❤️X

I'm so grateful to have been lucky enough to have had Valerie teach me piano growing up. She was such a wonderful person and it's impossible to say everything I learned from her lessons. I remember her enthusiastically getting me to imagine the story behind a particularly boring piece and since then music has added more colour to my life.
She will be remembered so fondly by all of her students. Condolences to her family.

Valerie was one of my heroes. She taught me piano in the late 60s- 70s and I owe my love of the piano to her patience, her kindness and her brilliance as a teacher. When I visited her recently in Howth with my sister Danusia, she even remembered the pieces I enjoyed playing most. (She also remembered how awful my scales were!). We have lost a treasure.
