Still heartbroken beyond words. Vanessa was one of the best people I have ever known. She never stopped showing up for the people and the causes she believed in. She is a huge loss to her beautiful sons Ólan and Alex, her wonderful family and to all of us who were lucky enough to call her our friend. I miss you so much Vanessa ❤️

Love always

Catherine
V sad about this one..

Vanessa introduced me to many festival sites - on quaysides/ fields/ streets/ squares and to all sorts of traders, site crews, service providers, and to coordinating volunteers…. I learned so much from her, she was passionate about food and delivering a quality service always in everything we worked on.

Her saying ‘Let the hare sit’ lives freely in my head and I find myself applying it regularly still when I find myself in a jam.

From working in the back room of her house, portacabins, and all sorts; Road trips, endless coffees, plundering pink rooms, long hours, falling out and falling back in again, and much smirking!

May she rest in peace.
Sincere sympathy to Jenny-Rose Toby Rosa & Anna & extended Clarke family, on Vanessa's passing.
May she rest in peace.
Very sorry Jenny Rose & family to hear of your loss. May she Rest in Peace.

I am very sorry to hear of Vanessa's passing and send sincere condolences to her family and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Vanessa at ATN since 2018, she was a consummate professional who respected and supported the job everyone had to do to make the festival a success.
Met Vanessa in 2nd year in Scoil Ghobnatan. A bright clear spirit even as a teenager and reading the condolences, she seemed to stay true to that. Rest in peace
Jenny Rose & family, so sorry to hear about the passing of Vanessa. May she Rest in Peace.
We just heard the sad news.
There are no words...Orla and Jenny you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Dear Vanessa, A strong graceful woman, for me a kind of older sister met when I moved to Cork City with my parents Deirdre and Maurice from West Cork around the same time that Orla, Dave and Jenny moved to the city. Our lives became interwoven and I remember Vanessa initially as an occasional and slightly exotic visitor exuding a bit of London cool. Later I worked for her briefly in the Good Food Store in Dublin, to say that she was a very kind and tolerant boss is probably an understatement. After this again our lives only occasionally intercepted but I care deeply about this extended Vanessa family which includes but is not limited to Jenny, Orla, Victoria, Toby, Rosa, Anna May, Olan, Molly and Alex. I experienced Vanessa as compassionate, capable, hardworking, always holding many things, a solid down to earth presence whilst also being expansive and up for fun. Like all the Clarkes she had great style, taste and warmth. Now in my minds eye I see Vanesa’s smile, that grace, someone who liked to support others and who in many ways had a quietness to her despite her easy sociability. I hope that all who love and loved her continue to hold her presence in their thoughts and actions. Sweet thing gone now into Autumn light and Autumn night. Much love Aoife.
Condolonces to Olan and the family for the passing of your mum. She was a truly amazing woman..we have worked with her for the past 17 years and we have very fond memories.

The Irish festival scene wont be the same without you my dear Vanessa..you will be truly missed! May your soul rest in peace.
I had the absolute pleasure of "working" with Vanessa on multiple corporate events and at ATN. What a laugh we had. The first time I worked with Vanessa was in Miami with her "daughter in law", Molly. I had text Molly "Cant believe your mother in law is coming to Miami, hate that", she replied, "You've never met Vanessa" and boy was she right. The laughs we had, we couldnt keep up! Vanessa was just brilliant, professionally and personally. My heart is broken for her, all of her family and friends, but I am so glad our paths crossed. X
Sincere condolences to Jenny-Rose, Toby & family. May she rest in peace.
We were so sad to hear Vanessa has passed and send our love and deep condolences to her much loved family. Vanessa was the maestro extraordinaire of the Theatre of Food - her incredible creation - and John Reynold’s wonderful Electric Picnic was all the better for her brilliant ingenuity in putting it all together. She created a beautiful vibe and a haven of food excellence at The Good Food Store for so many years and we loved visiting there. May Vanessa rest in peace and wishing her family solace in their many warm memories of her. ❤️❤️❤️
Deepest condolences to Olan and family on the passing of your mum. May Vanessa rest in peace.
So sorry to hear about Vanessa’s passing. A warm, strong and sassy trail-blazer who lived life to the full in every way. Many fun moments at rugby matches, parties and get-togethers as our boys journeyed through St Conleth’s school. She gave my daughter her first work experience in the Good Food Store, so generous in sharing her knowledge and phenomenal business acumen. Our deepest sympathies to Alex, Olan and the wider family.

Although my twin Una and I only met Vanessa once( in the Start clinic, 3weeks before she passed) we were blown away by her spirit and energy and vivaciousness and courage and resistance and acceptance and passion. She made a huge impression on us both and we were deeply saddened to hear of her passing. Please accept our deepest condolences and we send much strength, comfort and courage to you all in the times ahead. Love Emer and Una Reynolds 🦋

Sincere condolences to all who knew and loved Vanessa. I can only imagine how heartbroken you are to have lost such a wonderful woman. While we only worked briefly together years ago, I remember her warmth, generosity, and creativity fondly. Her legacy will live on 💞
The teenage Vanessa with her tatty school jumper. She left it in Mesopotamia the Vintage shop Victoria and I shared. I binned it as being unsaleable.......Orla not at all impressed!
And then her soft and welcoming presence at Dave’s funeral, and the easy familiarity even though I’d seen her so rarely as an adult, may she rest in peace.
My heartfelt condolences to you Orla on the unimaginable loss of your daughter and to you Jenny Rose losing your sister Vanessa. My sympathies to all your family.

All condolences to your family now
at this sad time...
I recall another time, in Cork City
I really enjoyed being in your presence,
a very bright and informed mind always…
The lovely image here of you and your smile here
captures all that very well...
We met subsequently, in passing, after you relocated
to Dublin more than a few times and I would have really loved
to have met you again…
Rest in Peace!
I remember exactly where I was when I first met Vanessa properly. It was in the Merrion hotel, after an event I'd organised, I'd been walking up and down the stairs all night and eventually she told me to sit down. "Isn't that better, there will still be things to do when you stand up." I spent time with her and her sisters and mum at lots of other events, and at family celebrations. I saw her at her office and at her shop, at festivals and food markets. I always thought she was wonderful. When I had cancer, it took away a lot of my confidence - that was brief, my swagger returned thanks to people like Vanessa. I have three very vivid memories of her. At the old Four Season's for the premiere of the documentary about Shane when she was just fantastic company, and I introduced her to my future wife. One sunny day at Vic and Shane's house when we all sat out in the garden and had dinner, it was just the greatest of Irish days in the most simple way - family and friends. The taxi back after Shane's funeral and the hug she gave me when I said goodbye for the last time.
Dearest Jenny-Rose, Toby , Anna May, Rosa, Orla , Victoria, Olan and Alex and all who loved Vanessa , my deepest condolences.
May Vanessa rest in peace ❤️

Dear Jenny, Toby and all the family, we are so sorry to hear of Vanessa passing. Staying in Vanessa’s home in Dublin in the 90s the early days of working the olive markets, Vanessa always looked after us, always smiling, so welcoming and great fun.
Our deepest sympathy on your loss.
Thinking of you all at this time.
Vanessa gave me invaluable guidance when I started my business. I worked with her at many events over my 14 years. She was always kind and supportive, took time for me and my small business the same as the big ones, taught me that solutions were always there. Much of my success is owed to this brilliant woman. May you rest in peace Vanessa.
Dear Jenny Rose and family
My deepest condolences for your loss. Vanessa sounds like an amazing person who made a huge impact on all those she knew. Sending you my love, thoughts and prayers.
My deepest sympathies to all Vanessa's family and friends. Remembering the fun, crazy days in the Good Food Store, trying to force too many Christmas turkeys in the fridge and the mad lunchtime rush for the excellent rolls. To this day, any time I'm asked if I want mayonnaise on a roll, I laugh to myself at her refusal to have mayo in the shop as it just wasn't classy (Ballymaloe Relish was though, and it got everywhere!) Rest in peace
I've thought long and hard about writing this It's impossible to sum up Vanessa in a few sentences. We operated our book stall with her at Docklands Christmas Market ,The Point Market, The Electric Picnic,All Together Now and various other events. She understood that books are not in the same league as food in terms of profit and charged us accordingly.According to her "we were food for the soul".Thank you ,Vanessa ,for the great memories and stories to pass on to the next generation. Also remembering her wonderful friend --the late John Reynolds.
So so sorry to hear of Vanessa’s passing. Our hearts go out to you all at this time.
