Your were always good company when we meet up for special occasions especially at Christmas when it come to playing cards at the dinner Table after a few Gin and Tonic!. So sorry to hear the passing of Vera our deepest sympathy to all the Maguire family RIP ..

Vera, despite her slender frame, had a big heart and a generosity of spirit. Her and Andy raised six children in a small house, devoting herself to the children and eventually the grandchildren. All of them were infused with Christian values and an industrious approach to getting on with life. This did not stop Vera from having an active role in the community, such was her love of Ballyfermot.
Vera always made sure that everyone was fed such was her love of cooking. She remained a beacon around the kitchen table, and her wry smile hid a mischievous streak of winding up unsuspecting guests—that was the price of a free lunch!
Her faith remained close to her at all times, and when she suffered ill health , it did not change her attitude towards life. She gave of herself to the medical profession so they could gain a greater insight into her illness, so others would benefit later. She was so unselfish about helping others.
Her card or board game skills were legendary. The “buy-in” of a euro disguised the high stakes being played for. You were at constant risk of losing your dignity or honour at the table. With Vera, we never lost at cards- we just deferred winning!
We start 2023 with a physical emptiness of not having her presence, but we each have a wealth of memories of this remarkable woman, to keep her spirit alive.

Deepest condolences to both Ann and Louis on this very sad news. I know you were all very close, and I especially know how fond Louis was of Vera by the many happy stories he used to share with me.
