Sincere sympathy to all of Fr Harris’s family.
He was a thorough gentleman and lover of hurling and football. He and my mother spent many a Monday morning dissecting the weekend GAA activities.
He will always be remembered fondly by our family.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Fr. Harris, such a cherished part of our family and a lifelong friend to our parents. He wasn’t just a priest to us, he was a huge part of our family from when we were kids right up to us being adults.
From childhood days playing hurling in the back field and pool every Wednesday evening in our kitchen in Ballyboughal, to our First Communions, Confirmations, and weddings, Fr. Harris was there for every milestone.
He married each of us siblings which was so special and always had a great, funny speech.
I’ll never forget his visit to us in Los Angeles with my Dad (Mick Connell)! The joy on his face at Disneyland, like a big kid taking it all in, and the special mornings we shared Mass around our dining table and coming home at lunch seeing him sit by the pool reading his bible in the sun.
We are so grateful for the memories and the love he gave us all.
Our heartfelt condolences to his family. He will be deeply missed and always remembered with great affection and gratitude.
Rest in peace, Fr. Harris.

Deeply regretting your passing as we watch on the webcam from Hong Kong tonight. My six year old is asking where heaven is and how you're going to get there. I told him there's a rocket ship reserved for you with a direct flight to a castle in the sky. He saw the church on the screen and asked if that was heaven, and I said yes, pretty much. Surrounded by so many people who loved you and want to remember you, I guess that is heaven. I still have the confirmation book you gave me in 1978, so many years ago. So many memories which my siblings, along with your fellow priests, so beautifully articulated. I am so grateful to them for their tributes, all of which I heartily endorse. Perhaps the one point that I would like to emphasise was your good humour. You were unfailingly cheerful, in good spirits, of positive demeanour, laughing a lot, always recounting stories of past hurling games etc. Remember that trip to Clonea when I was just a kid? When I got home, I proudly announced that I'd had a "chip of plates" !! I also remember fondly the trip you made along with my Dad to visit me in Phoenix, Arizona in 1992. What an amazing time that was. Hi to my Dad, God speed your way to your castle in the sky.
Sincere Sympathy to all on the passing of Fr. Harris RIP.

The many warm condolences from the various Parish’s that Canon Harris served so faithfully are a great testament to his vocation and life long commitment to the Church. Parishoners in Blanchardstown were blessed with his presence over so many years and he never forgot his Tipp roots and support of all matters GAA. In that regard his celebration of the annual La Le Bride Mass on each 1st February in Russell Park was so special and always thronged to hear Walter’s words of canonical wisdom and advice for St Brigids in the upcoming football and hurling season! I was ordained, way back in 1987.. Wally was my first Parish Priest. He was always kind and forgiving for the oft and many mistakes I made. We were miles apart in our vision of church, but we never fought nor fell out. I learned from him and the People of Kilmer West Parish. When he was moved from Kilmore West to Blanchardstown he asked me to preach at his farewell Mass in Saint Luke's. Wally thank you for being very kind to me when I was a young priest. I have and always will remember you with kindness. God bless you for being a good priest. Fergal, Rialto Parish and Dolphin's Barn Parish.
