Sincerest condolences to Fr Dermot’s extended family and his church family. Many moons ago when he was a very young priest and I was a very young paraplegic in National Rehabilitation Centre, Dun Laoighre, he was a regular visitor who listened and cheered me up and believed, as I did then also, that all my goals were still attainable-Which they were. I lost touch for years and reconnected briefly a few years ago. I’m grateful for that opportunity and today I pray he’s bringing joy to all who may need it in the hereafter. Ar Dheis De go raibh d’anam.
Apocalypse now.

Sincere condolences to Antoinette, Gwen and Miriam on the very sad passing of Fr Dermot. Thinking of you and your families at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
Fr Dermot was more than a friend and a supporter—he was the cornerstone of the parish community. He gave so much of himself to the people of Newtownpark Church and the surrounding areas , not for recognition, but because he genuinely cared. Whether it was organising events, helping with charities, or simply listening to people who needed support, he was always there, quietly doing the work that mattered. He had a unique gift for connecting with parishioners, volunteers , local businesses, communities and making everyone feel welcome, heard, and valued. His presence brought a calm strength to everything he touched and the people he met.
Fr Dermot didn’t just serve the church—he lived his faith through action. He supported me and so many others, not just as a local business, but as a true friend. His absence is felt deeply, but his spirit—his kindness, dedication, and humility—lives on in the parish and in everyone he impacted. Fr Dermot set a standard for what it really means to serve.
I know the team he worked with on local issues , the parish centre , Christmas , Easter and all occasions will deeply miss Fr Dermot and we will never see the likes of him again I feel not in my lifetime.

Sincere condolences to Fr Dermot’s family and friends. I had the privilege of working with Fr. Dermot on community projects that made a lasting impact on the prison population and the wider community. His dedication to rehabilitation and community building was inspiring.
Our most significant collaboration was the Mountjoy Prison work party. His vision was to help incarcerated individuals reintegrate into society and find a sense of purpose. We worked tirelessly to implement this program, which not only benefited the prisoners but had a positive impact on the community of Killester. We joined forces to bring this vision to life, utilizing the skills and labor of the Mountjoy Prison work party. Working with Fr. Dermot taught me the true meaning of compassion and perseverance. He had an innate ability to inspire hope in those who had lost their way and to motivate others to contribute positively to society. Fr Dermot’s work ethic was second to none. He approached every challenge with determination and a positive attitude, never letting obstacles deter him from his goals. His leadership style was one of encouragement and empowerment. As we remember Fr. Dermot, let us carry forward his legacy of compassion, community service, and belief in second chances. His impact on the lives of countless individuals, including myself, will never be forgotten. Fr. Dermot was a dear friend, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the honor of knowing him. RIP Fr. Dermot.
