Very Reverend Father Richard (Dick) Kelly

Sending our deepest sympathies to you all. Always a gentlemen, Fr Kelly had a smile for everyone. He was always great to comfort and support people in times of need. We will remember him fondly. Rest in peace Fr Dick.

Deepest sympathy to the family of Fr. Kelly and his wide circle of friends on his sad passing. He was a man of great vision and the many projects undertaken by him are a testimony to his planning and commitment. The parish is the major beneficiary of all his hard work. We also have the most wonderful crib, waterfall, moving figures and animals of every description and of course the box of sweets to the side for the young and not so young! It is fitting that he is laid to rest in the new section of the graveyard near the structure where he celebrated outdoor mass during Covid times in the sight of the snowcapped Galtee Mountains.May he rest in peace.

If ever a Parish Priest was embedded in the heart and soul of his community, it was Father Kelly !

I remember Dick and John taking me by the hands to skate on a frozen Kelly's pond when I was very small.
And later he came to Carrickmacross to concelebrate our wedding Mass

Our deepest sympathy to the Kelly family on the sad passing of Father Dick, Our lasting memory of Father Dick will be the way he accommodated the 50th anniversary service for the late tpr Pat Mullins back in 2011 and allowing the memorial stone to be erected in the church grounds, something we will be proud of for many years to come, it'd probably wouldn't be there otherwise. He showed great interest in the whole occasion and spoke with compassion and meaning about it many times afterwards. He done what others failed to do in the past.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Fr Dick. A man who put the parish first. 2 new graveyards. Fantastic extensions onto both schools. Special school Anglesboro which now employs up to 14 people. Initially when he came he was afraid that forestry would take over the parish.Thanks to him new couples were attracted to the parish and formed new homes here .May your gentle soul rest in peace Fr Dick.

We were so blessed to have had Fr Kelly be part of our highs & more importantly our lows over the years, from our wedding to Evan's christening, communion & Confirmation & to Margaret's funeral & all Bill's anniversary masses which you did with love & affection here at the house for us. I definitely think we have the most blessed house in the village from all the masses said here over the years.

We always enjoyed Fr Kelly's annual visit to choose the Christmas tree for the Church in Kilbehenny. In earlier years the tree that was chosen was never big enough and I'm sure Fan will have many stories that he could relate about putting the tree up in the Church.
We will miss your annual visit to the farm Fr Kelly and your lovely Masses & sermons and will always think of you, especially at Christmas. May you rest in heavenly peace.

So grateful the funeral Mass was live streamed so I could watch it here in Massachusetts. What an incredible tribute to Fr. Dick, a priest who touched the lives of so many people. I have found memories of meeting him In Hacketstown in 1981 when I went to Ireland with my husband, Michael Hackett. Mike and Dick became dear friends when they studied at the Irish College in Rome. I will always be grateful to Dick for celebrating a Memorial Mass for Mike in Tinock in May, 2018. They are now together again in heaven.

Ultra efficient at getting his message across, loved attending his masses albeit from outside his parish, always got a sense of the great connection he had with Communion and Confirmation children; he seemed to create a wonderful parish atmosphere. Condolences to his family and all who will miss him greatly.

Sincere Condolences to Fr. Kellys family and friends. We will be eternally grateful to him for the support he gave to our family in good times and in bad over the years, especially during the tragic loss of our son and brother in 2000. Fr. Dick was always so kind and understood exactly what was needed in times of grief. His compassion even reached out to an Italian man in cork ICU who was there at the same time as his wife was seriously ill, with whom he kept contact with and remained friends with afterwards. He always had compassion and time for anyone in need.
May you enjoy your eternal home with god Fr Kelly, and may you rest on peace. You will never be forgotten. RIP
