Remembering times in Ballycotton, always busy. Loved the sea and his boat. Memories of taking the alterboys on his boat to Crosshaven for their annual outing. A beautiful smile every time you met him.
One of his sayings was "It is easier to get forgiveness than permission " when he needed something done in the church, he might do it first before asking the PP.
Sincere condolences to the family of Fr. Madden and to Bishop Crean and fellow Priests, on your sad loss. May Fr. Michael's gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Sincere condolences to the Madden family on the death of Fr Michael. I remember him as a young priest, setting up a youth club/table tennis club, in the 'hall' in Rathcormac in the late 60's. A man of integrity, friendliness, and always a smile on his face. May he rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy and condolences to the Madden family on the recent death of Fr Michael. He was a wonderful person indeed, a gift from God to us all, carrying his priestly ministry and his many other talents so lightly. In Fermoy, I got to know him when he was chaplain to the scouts, CBSI as they were then. He was a good friend for decades, with memories of Midleton, Ballycotton, Blarney and East Ferry. He had a marvellous pair of hands too for furniture restoration, DIY or for overhauling his sailing boat in East Ferry, evoking images of another mariner on the Sea of Galilee. I had the experience too of crewing for him on several occasions, around the harbour, down the West Cork coast, at one time being storm bound in Glengarriffe. And though coming, like I do, from North Cork, the sea had a special place in his heart. And his uplifting and infectious humour and wit, what fun to be with such a person.
Fr Michael, may you now have a cosy berth, or a well slung hammock, at God's right hand, in a place of unending joy, where Lazarus is poor no longer. Rest in peace.

The eternal rest setting awaits Fr Madden, it is the lords setting for eternal rest for those that used his word via the holy setting.
Fr Madden was a renaissance man in many ways in the way he conducted his services and settings over the years. A very dedicated man to the goers of his setting. I recall I was trimming the tops of trees for him, he said to “you’re getting quick at that, you may branch out altogether”
It was a great moment.
Amen

Have wonderful memories of going to inter county games with Fr. Michael and calling to his family home in Churchtown for a great feed, on the way home. He was a great friend to many of us in Midleton. A lovely man, May Fr Michael rest in peace.
My sincere sympathy to the family and relatives of Fr. Michael RIP. I well remember his visits to Buttevant Convent when we were all young and life in the Convent was good and going well. During his annual Summer holidays when he was at home in Churchtown he’d come to celebrate Mass after which the nuns would gather to chat with him during breakfast in the convent parlour. Boats, sailing and bees were among his many topics of interest. His sisters Mary and Clara were past pupils of the convent secondary school and were well known to the Sisters. May Fr. Michael’s priestly soul now enjoy the “fullness of joy in God’s presence” . 🤝
Deepest sympathies to all Fr Michael's family and friend on his sad passing. Good friends when he was in Ballycotton and afterwards, when he came to take care of his bee hives that he kept at the bottom of our garden. He would always come in for a cupa and a chat. He was such a lovely man. Fr Michael will be sadly missed. May he Rest in Peace.
My sincere condolences to Father Michael’s family and loved ones. He was well regarded among the young and the old during his time in Blarney.
