You always wanted Vincent’s seal of approval.
He had the grace and charm of a dancer. Everything he did was with ease and accomplishment.
He never boasted. He never had to. He was top shelf. His work was too.
The Sweetman girls adored him. My mother, Moira, the eldest, would light up and her tone would change when he was in the house. He changed the humor of everyone it seemed by his mere easy presence.
He stood out. Even at the back of a crowd he stood out.
He loved to give and take a good natured ribbing.
The last time I saw him maybe ten Christmases ago, he would’ve been 80 or 81, in a packed Manhattan pub near the Rockefeller Center tree he was surrounded by young women in jovial, festive, conversation. I took a mental photos
I have lots of mental photos of him.
