Sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Conway, I had the privilege of having him as a teacher for two great years in Belgrove, he loved showing us pictures of his travels around the world and gave 110% to everyone he thought, coming in early to help students whom needed a bit of extra help with school work and his passion for music which was evident though out our time playing music at lunch time, which would echo through the school corridors.
Rest in peace Mr Conway(Vincent)

So sad to hear of Vinvents passing. Many of us Belgrove Boys had the gift of having Mr. Conway as our teacher. I will always remember the exciting trips on the dart to the art galleries in town, Newgrange and our big 6th class trip to Chester in England. Such excitement. I can remremember singing all the Beatles songs in the classroom with Vincent enjoying it so much on the piano and of course and band with us all playing our recorders with the highlight an opportunity to play for a night in the NCH. I was so delighted to hear he had visted my sons Belgrove senior infant class in 2019 to tell them all about Antarctica. When we lived in Malahide we met him on ocassion in the St. Sylvesters parish centre having a coffee. My sincere condolences to you all. What a gentleman you had as a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. May he rest in peace.
I was so sad to hear of the passing of Vincent. I have such fond memories of him as Chairperson for our Board of Management at Glasnevin Educate Together National School, as a member of the board alongside him and as a teacher in the school. Vincent was incredibly generous with his time, his musical ability and his storytelling, regularly coming to the school for assemblies and to enchant us with stories of his Antarctic adventures. We had many chats about travelling and I once shared tips about visiting Cadaques in Spain with him and heard all about the trip afterwards. My deepest sympathies to Muireann, Catherine, Eoin and all of Vincent's family. The funeral service was a wonderful tribute to Vincent, he will be greatly missed.
Sincere condolences to Don & all of the Conway family on the passing of Vincent.

Sincere sympathy to Muireann and all the Conway family on Vincent’s death. I first met Vincent in teacher training college over fifty years ago. He was a really lovely talented man who made an enormous contribution to the education of so many young people. He was so talented musically. I am sure he has added a few more tunes to the heavenly choir. Suaimhneas síoraí d’a anam uasal.
We were so sad to hear of the loss of Vincent, who was so generous with his time, skills and experience, serving as chair of the board of Glasnevin Educate Together NS for 11 years, and making a huge contribution to the school and to the Educate Together network. Deepest condolences to Muireann and all Vincent's family and friends, on behalf of everyone in the Educate Together network of schools.
Dear Muireann & Family. I have only just now learned of the death of your dear husband and father. Please accept my condolences & heartfelt sympathy. From our early days in Jambo to the last time I met him in Malahide he radiated warmth, joy and friendship___ one of life’s generous & true gentlemen. Leaba sámh dó i measc na naomh. John Tyrrell
So sorry to hear of your brother Vincent's passing Don. I hope you and the family cherish the memories you have at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
Dear Muireann, Catherine and Eoin,
Deepest sympathies to you all on the loss of the inimitable Vinny.
It must be wonderful to read about the extent of his musical influence in Belgrove, the Convent in Seapark, and beyond. He had that kind of pure, driven, optimistic energy that brings out the best in amateur musicians and singers, and that made events like the Christmas masses in Seapark so charmingly memorable for all who attended. I was never sure if it was just the one tie that he used to rewear or if he had a large collection, but either way they were only a fraction of the colour and joy he brought to his local community.
May he rest in peace and song.

Vincent was a singer, a teacher, a motivator of choirs and a thorough gentleman. All of these characteristics were in evidence in his too-short time with us. Our condolences to Muireann, Catherine and Eoin and to the rest of the family.
Tá fear uasal, iontach imithe uainn - fear a thug cabhair do na mílte a tháinig i dteangbháil leis - idir óg agus aosta- mé féin ina measc. Suaimhneas sioraí , ceolmhar duit Vinny agus comhbhrón ó chroí do Muireann Catherine Eoin agus an chlann uilig.
Sincere sympathy to Vinnie's family. He was a year ahead of me in St. Pat's and we shared the same corridor. I have fond memories of him and his guitar but I'm glad we missed out on the accordeon!
My deepest condolences to Muireann, Catherine and Eoin on the death of Vincent. I only got to know Vincent in his role as Chairperson of Glasnevin Educate Together National School. He had a smile and a welcome for everyone. A lovely lovely man.
Thar ceann mhuintir Chéileachair, is mian liom comhbhrón ó chroí a dhéanamh le Muireann agus le teaghlach Vincent. Bhí an-mheas go deo ag ár nAthair, Mícheál Ó Céileachair ar Vincent, mar mhuinteoir agus mar dhuine. Is trua linn bhur mbris, agus an fear uasal seo ar lár.
Dear Muireann, Catherine, and Eoin,
We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Vincent. He was a remarkable individual and an inspiring principal who profoundly influenced my sons, Martin and Kevin, during their time at Belgrove JBS. Vincent fostered a love of learning in a fun environment, which is essential during their formative years, and he actively included all the parents and grandparents in the school community. As an outstanding teacher, he leaves a lasting legacy in the hearts of many.

Mr. Conway was my teacher in 3rd and 4th class from 1970 to 1972 (funny even though he signed notes to me as "Vincent" he was always Mr. Conway to me).
There are so many memories and experiences entirely generated by him that demonstrated his passion, generosity and desire to instil curiosity, action and adventure in his pupils - whether it was trips to Clonmacnoise or Newgrange, slide shows on Egypt, playing Gaelic football in St. Annes, creating and leading the accordion band - the breadth and depth of what he exposed us to, and the energy he expended to teach and inspire us was just incredible.
I still have every school report from him in his beautiful handwriting. He was straightforward and generous in his feedback I also have the notecard he wrote to me when we graduated his class. I didn't need to re-read that note - I could recite it by heart and have been able to do so since 1972. Interestingly I didn't keep notes from any other teacher, professor or boss over the many decades since, but I kept Mr. Conway's.
His generosity of spirit, passion for teaching and desire to expand our horizons was a priceless gift he gave to all of us. His influence on literally thousands of boys has made Belgrove, Clontarf and the world a much better place. If the measure of a man is how he influenced others, and how he impacted those around him, then it is not an exaggeration to say that Mr. Conway was a GREAT man.

It is with a heavy heart,We read this news. Vincent was my teacher for 5th&6th class in Belgrove. Barbara was a teaching member of his staff in the junior school. He was both a wonderful Teacher and person and is kindly remembered by both of us. Condolences to the family at such a difficult time, may his soul Rest in Peace.
Deepest sympathy to all of the Conway family from an old neighbour and friend who lived in 7 Carrick Terrace and still remembers the day the Conways moved into number 9.
R.I.P Vinny.
R.I.P Vinny.
It was September 1968 and a group of 45 or so 8 year-olds were about to enter Belgrove senior school. To our delight, with his enthusiasm for music and sport, our new teacher seemed to be a combination of the fifth Beatle, a certain long-haired soccer player from Belfast and James Dean, all rolled into one. How we pitied the other lads with their journeymen teachers when ours was a rockstar. Even if they had Tony Dunne or Nobby Stiles, we had George Best.
He shared all of his musical talent with us and introduced us to the Boys of Wexford and the Beach Boys with complete impartiality.
Above all though, he gave us the priceless gift of inspiration.
Fast forward to the spring of 2018: I was in touch with Brendan Fanning for the first time in decades and as our conversation naturally turned to the subject of Vincent Conway, we realised that our 50th anniversary was upon us. Notwithstanding the lapse of half a century, we managed to get many of the original band together for a reunion with Vinny. We know he enjoyed that night (and a follow-up outing 2 years ago) as much as we did and were just glad to be able to give something back to him - a small token of the great esteem in which we all hold him.
So, on behalf of Vinny’s class of 1968 and probably tens of thousands of others, in extending our deepest sympathies to Muireann and family on their terrible loss, we’d also like to express our gratitude for the privilege of our time with him.
Míle buíochas Vinny agus go dté tú slán.

To Muireann, Catherine, Eoin and family. My sincerest condolences to you all. Vincent had a huge impact on so many lives. He was a role model and an inspiration to so many kids and adults alike. I first got to know him as a passionate, caring and interested principal, which later developed into a special friendship that myself and many will treasure for a lifetime. His love for music and history was infectious. I hope he knew how much he was loved and valued in Belgrove and in life.

I had the pleasure of being part of a small group of musicians who used to play for Saturday evening/Sunday morning mass in the enclosed order of the Carmalite Sisters in Seapark. Vincent conducted this group. He was a gentleman and had a deep love of music and people.
I am very sorry to hear about his passing. May he rest in peace.

Dear Muireann, Catherine, Eoin, and all of Vinny’s family…our fond sympathy on the loss of one good man, Vinny. As a colleague , a mentor and a dear friend I remember the many happy times we, colleagues and children, enjoyed together in Belgrove Jun Boys School where the walls were alive with the sound of music and song. Thank you Vinny … Suaimhneas Síoraí anois.
Dear Muireann, Catherine and Eoin, my sincerest condolences on the passing of Vinny. He was a wonderful person and a gifted principal who had such a positive impact on my son when he attended Belgrove JBS. I hope the outpouring of love for Vinny and your wonderful memories will help you get through this very difficult time.
We send all of the Conway family our deepest sympathies, and condolences, at this saddest of times. May you find comfort in the precious, treasured memories that you all have of such a special man - and no doubt so many happy times. Mr Conway brought music into the life of our son Billy - and all of the boys in Belgrove Junior Boys. I have glorious memories of bringing Billy to the door of the hall - as he delightedly danced in to 'Show me the way to Amarillo' - with Mr Conway and Mr Maguire leading all the boys singing.
It was because of Mr Conway that Billy sang in The Palestrina Choir. He enabled the gift of music - with all of the wonderful friendships and experiences that have followed - to come into all of our lives. We are, as a family, forever grateful to him.
Mr Conway was 'ever present' in Belgrove. His was a generous, warm, committed, passionate and so gifted presence. His legacy endures in all the lives he touched. We know, and pray, he will shower you all with his love and blessings from heaven. Rest in peace wonderful Mr Conway.

Our sincerest condolences to Muireann, Catherine and Eoin and all of Vincent's extended family and friends.
As some have already attested, I was also a member of Vincent's first class at Belgrove in 1969/ 1969. That was the year that Vincent introduced us to music through the guitar and accordion. He chatted about "The Beatles" and how cool they were, not just musically but socially as well. Unbeknownst to us all, we did not understand the profound impact such a gentle and dedicated man would have on all of our lives. He created an environment in the classroom in which all of us ( 44+) could thrive and aspire. He wanted us to think and be curious and to embrace the love of learning.
That has stayed with me through the up's and downs of various educational intuitions that surely could have benefited from Vincent's singular approach. Ironically, I have made a career in music creation since 1980 and continue to this day. In addition, I also teach music production at NYU.
I doubt very much that either of those two pathways would have revealed themselves without the mentoring of Vincent. We all owe him a debt of gratitude for his kindness and guidance.
I was able to thank Vincent personally during one of the Belgrove reunions that various members of the class organized. Unfortunately, it was during Covid times, but I was able to zoom into the gathering and chat again with the great man himself.
May he rest in peace.
