Vincent (Mr Heavin) was in our house a lot when I was young, initially because we had a lot of Gardai staying in my parents guest house and subsequently when I got older, badder and fell off the wagon, repeatedly. He always offered good advice and gave me no small amount of 'chances'. I could never get used to calling him 'Vincent' even though he would always insist I did. From my childhood I always called him 'Mr Heavin', it was a mark of my respect for him. I always found him very sincere, courteous, kind, friendly and of great integrity. I am very grateful to 'Vincent' for all his help, especially in my young years, and I have no doubt he will continue with that assistance. When you get to Heaven you get very busy helping people. He was a fine man, very very quick witted, sincere and good company to be in. He had a very relaxing manner about him. He used to take us picking spuds with him and a few others when we were young, a great experience and not without its reward. Very fine, fond memories. I like him and will always like him and I am very sorry he has passed away. I wish to extend my sincere sympathies to Mary and all Vincent's family.
